I would say from my personal experience you'd have to sit still in water deep enough to completely submerge the rear & tranny for it to seep in & it wouldn't happen real quick either. I have drove thru plenty of water I probably shouldn't have & never had a tranny fluid or rear end fluid problem.

Granted I do not suggest driving thru deep water but sometimes if thats the only way thru you just gotta hope for the best or go back home.

I wouldnt worry about where it is, but depending on how high the water was when you stalled out and how long it sat there. If the water was high enough to come into the car through the doors then I would worry about them being contaminated but if not I'd say youre fine.

cant MAP sensors cause funny idle conditions too? i know on a nissan truck a buddy had back in the day his MAP was causing high idle. Also, i would recommend changing ur trans fluid and rearend gear oil. i would rather spend my money on 4 qts of ATF and 2 QTs of gear oil then to find out water might have been in there and destoryed your tranny. it wont have any noticable effects right away, but water in oil will take its toll. might not hurt to check it out.
