Default Head and cam question

My goal is 400rwhp. Right now the car makes 340rwhp and 350rwtq at the wheels and has gone 13.1@110 ( minus driver mod) with these Mods :

Mac Mids with catted y-pipe
LM2, SLP lid, ramair, and mas air meter
Ported stock TB and a a/f tune with my maf translator.

This is roughly a 800.00 budget build for parts. Here is what I have so far.

Flowtech cam 228,232, .600/.600, 111 LS (was given for free)
Another set of 241 heads. (was given for free)

My plans were to get the heads worked and there you go. I can get the heads worked for 600.00 and still have to get valve springs or I could purchase a already worked set of 241's with Comp 918 springs, sodium filled exhaust valves That have been flow tested ove 300cfm @.600 lift for 600.00. I could also pick up a stock set of 243's for 500. Keep in mind I am on a 800.00ish budget for parts. Right now I am leaning towards the already worked 241's. What does everyone think?

I know I still need valve springs at the least if I dont purchase those already machined heads. My question is are stock push rods and lifters okay with this cam? If not what would you suggest? My car has 90,000 miles on it so I would also want to replace the timing chain since I will be in there already.

My plans are to build a motor for this car in 2 years or so, but for now I just want a good street car making around 400rwhp to get me by. I did a search for this cam but came up empty. Thanks for the help.

You can get near the 400HP mark with that cam alone. I would spend the money on an LS6 oil pump, hardened pushrods, and a set of PRC/Patriot dual springs. You have to consider a tune to fit in that budget somewhere also.

with that LSA of 111 its not going to be a good street car. It will be choppy as all hell and most likely have hot start issues. Get that cam cut in a 114 LSA to make it smoother idle and beter driveability.

as for heads, your better off porting 243 heads to have much better power across the board.

Cool thanks for the inputs so far. What I really ment to say was that the car was a weekend driver. Its not a track car. It is a full weight street car that is a weekend only car. As far as the LS6 oil pump goes is that something that you do when you do a Heads and cam install? Does it pump more fluid because my oil pressure is still the same as it was 60,000 miles ago. As far as the pushrods go do I need any specific length or just stock length with this cam?

Forget the "Ported LS6" and just get a Melling 10296 Oil Pump much better quality IMO

The length of Pushrod is going to depend on the heads, i believe the sodium filled valves are longer then stock meaning you would have to go with a shorter PR, also if you go to the ls7 lifters which is a good idea and peace of mind with that many miles they are longer then stock LS1 so the best thing would get the parts all together and put on and use a PR length checker and get the right length once and correctly. IT will save you money and since its not a DD you can have it apart for a week or two while waiting for the correct length PRs

My cam has 600 lifts on both intake and exhaust. Should I purchase springs rated at 600 lifts like the comp 918 or should I get springs rated higher like the Patriot golds? When I built the motor in my V6 my cam had a 547 lift and I was going to use stock LS6 springs for it. I got nervouse since those springs were rated at 550 lift and my cam had 547 lift that I got comp springs rated at 600 lift. Did I do the right thing then or was I just paronoid? My budget then was a little bit more since I was single and didnt have a kid then.. Now I can pick up a set of Comp 918's for 100.00 or a set of Patriots for 250.00

you'll need a spring rated higher than your max lift to keep them from binding
