Help me Pick my cam
#21
Jason That would be great if you could provide some dyno charts comparing the cams
Can you also give me a price on a 224R cam kit with PRC springs, LS2 timing set,
and Cam bolt and gasket kit shipped to 48152?
Would you suggest a single or double roller timing chain for this setup?

i really like my comp 224/230 cam 591lift. it made 380rwhp on a stalled auto, which means it would be close to 400 in a m6 car.
I daily the car, and its a very good cam, i think you would like it.

From another member's TR224 cam lift report I can see that intake lobe has a variance of 56.6 and exhaust 52, so yes they are much less agressive than XE-R at 49
LSA: (111.7)
Lift: (0.565/0.565)
Duration @ .006 and .050: (.006= 278.3/276.6 & .050= 224.7/224.6)
IVO: (.006= 29.1 BTDC & .050= 4.6 BTDC)
IVC: (.006= 69.2 ABDC & .050= 40.1 ABDC)
EVO: (.006= 71.6 BBDC & .050= 47.9 BBDC)
EVC: (.006= 25.0 ATDC & .050= 3.3 BTDC)

In all honesty I would highly recommend the 228R cam, I have ran it in my 02 Z28 with a fuddle 3400 stall and factory 2.73 gears and headerback exhaust. Ran excellent pulled hard and had a great lope to it with the 112 lsa. I just put this same cam in my 01 SS M6 Pulls like crazy with stock gears but im getting ready to put in 3.73s to maximize the powerband. This cam has great under the curve power and you would definently love the way it idles and the way the power is delivered.

Guys I have these camshafts in stock for testing. If any of you would like to come down & watch them on the engine dyno shoot me a pm. I'll post results asap!!

Here it is guys! TR224 114LSA vs TSP 224R 112LSA vs TSP 224R 114LSA. The only changes were the camshaft and tune for each.
In my opinion: There are too many Patrick G recommended EPS and LSL lobes cams and PredatorZ recommended XFI/XER camshafts running around out there with more lift and more aggressive lobes than these three cams to debate about these cams beating up valve springs in this thread.
Blue is TR224 on 114LSA
Red is TSP 224R on 112LSA
Brown is TSP 224R on 114LSA

Correct, basically just different lobes. I've got Jason working on a comparison graph, where one cam will be the baseline (flat), and the others will just show improvement over the baseline from 0 to 15hp/ftlbs...that should make it very easy to see the exact differences and at what RPM they occur at I'll have that posted before I leave in under an hour!

Here we go!
Blue line at the bottom is the TR224 baseline....red is still the 224R 112, brown is 224R on 114. Notice the only time a 224R falls below the TR224 is from about 2900-3100rpm, and it's less than one hp

But LSL and XFI are less agressive than XE-R from .006>.050
XFI 274/224/149
XE-R 273/224/146
LSL 273/223/147
I wish I could be there to throw one of my own on as well
224/224 .609/.581 110-1 LSA

Can you run a TSP 228 or 224 with stock injectors? I have the stock pump as well. Keep fresh WIX fuel filters on as well.
Looking at doing a cam swap just dont want to hassle with injectors. Budget is in mind for this.
Just want some more driveable power. My 89TTA is the racer.

I've got one of your "reverse torquers" here that will be tested soon. I think it was the one that was some crazy huge thread and like 232/228 XFI/XER 110-1. Send me one of those and we'll test it and send it back to you.

What is the setup on your test motor? You need to degree this cam at proper ICL.
