Default TR230 vs TSP 231/237 vs X1 (stock heads)

Im looking for as much info on these cams as possible at this time. They are what I have narrowed it down to. Im not worrying about too much of the drivability, Im concerned strictly with power.

Could anyone and everyone post your dyno sheets with these cams, I just want to see what kind of curves each cam throws out. Thanks.

if you look around enough you will see these three cams usually max out ~400rw hp on stock heads...

as far as midrange power, you would need graph comparisons, but they will probably end up being pretty close...

all three are proven performers...

the tr230 has a much lower lift than the 231 and the x1, so you can safely use 918's for a decent period of time...the other two you are pushing it and not many will tell you that is smart...

if you are looking for max power, the 231/237 is going to win out...it has more duration and lift...and more people everyday are making 450 with it with a good set of stage 2 heads...

if you want to use 918's get the tr230
if you want max power get the 231/237 (good spray cam except for the 112 lsa)
i don't see a reason to get an x1, other than you can pick one up cheap used if you look around, but you can also with a tr230

people have run low 11's cam only with the tr230...

most of this you already probably knew, but you will most likely have to look around, i doubt many people will post graphs their graphs for ya unless they already have it hosted...this topic has been beat to death also...

good luck they are all great cams...i like my comp spec cam...i liked the lift/duration and lsa...direct from comp 330 bucks...

here is a graph of a thunder's 3 most poplular cams (224/227/230) they are all pretty much the same with the 230 making a little more rwhp peak.

I'm satisfied with the TSP 231.
The other 2 cams are also proven performers.
You can't go wrong with any of them.

The TR230 and X1 are going to make more low end-mid range TQ. The 231 will make more peak. If you plan on gearing up to 4:10+ gears, the 231 wouldn't be a bad choice.

I'm using the 918's with my TSP 231/237, those with some Ti retainers make a VERY light and strong valvetrain.

i just meant your cam and 918's would be considered pushing it by some...and you will have to change your springs somewhat frequently to be on the safe side...

how often do you plan on changing out your springs with your cam gomer? nice power btw...i want some patriot stg 2 5.3's...see what power i can make with this comp cam...

Yes, and yes we would. But the trade off is it's peak potential. Just look at Gomer's numbers.

I was planning on changing them at 20k miles, but anyone that knows me will tell you that I change combo's every 3k or so. I already have something new in the works should have some new numbers in two weeks or so.

The TR230 is a damn good cam and that would have been my pick on this last combo, but I didn't want to go with a reverse split. I went with the traditional split because I was going to run nitrous on the car. Also, even though the TR230 has lower lift than the TSP cam, it's ramps are more agressive... so it kinda evens things out. All the cams listed will work with 918's and will put about the same amount of "strain" on them.

My X1 makes tons of tq and at 6800rpm the power is still climbing. It's VERY VERY drivable too.

im not arguing with you at all about your cam...i might end up with the tsp 231/237 if im not happy how those heads work with this comp cam...

im just letting the thread starter know what should be the pro's con's of each cam...

but using the tr230 should be a little less strain on the vavletrain plain and simple...this guy might care, he might not...

The car isn't going to see much use, maybe 100 miles a week MAX. I just want to see some graphs to compare mid/low range TQ. I know about each's peak potential which means literally nothing. I will not have any problem changing springs either.

check my sig for the graph

the tr230 makes a really flat torque curve. the graph is with all bolt ons except a tb and through a 12-bolt w/ 4.11's.
