Looking into the Streetsweeper and the Hellion cam from New Era
My goals are:
- over 400 rwhp, closer to 450rwhp
- Ok street manners, I want a big lope, I dont really care too much about driveability, I have always wanted something that sounds badaxx.
- dont want to replace springs every year or ever
- dont want to do heads, just the cam.
Hellion: 244/248 .630/.630 cam and is on a 112 LSA
Street sweeper Specs
Int Exh
Duration @ .050 228 232
Lift .612 .600
LSA : 111

New Era is great, good choice. My personal thoughts is that cam only the hellion is too large, especially for a driver. You will care about driveability when u get a large cam in a stick car without 4.10 or higher gears regardless of how good the tune is. That 228/232 111 should lope plenty hard to sound good, and still maintain decent driveability. The original streetsweeper is larger then you have listed and is as big as i would go, but i still wouldn't even consider that cam in a car without proper gearing, and supporting mods.
Mike or Ron at Vengeance could explain the function of my cam in a 346 on the technical side better then I can. MIKE OR RON want to chime in?

If you don't get there, don't blame it on the cam.

Often there is a tad bit of difference beween those heads powerwise. OP has stock LS1 heads, right?
Perhaps your 346/stock LS! heads experience differs. Do you have your 346/LS1 heads dyno charts available?
Please post 'em for us.

I'm really happy with streetsweeper cam too.
