Default Inexpensive LQ4 Pistons?

Who offers the least expensive pistons for a low buck LQ4 rebuild?
Need not be forged.
Thanks again.

I got the Speed Pro slugs for about $225 from my machine shop and I picked up the rings from Summit for just under $100.

Pistons: Speed Pro H857CP
Rings: Sealed Power E921K

Like I said, I got my pistons from my machine shop for about $225, but if you search around you can find them on the web for about the same. I have never ordered anything from them before, but enginekits.com has them for $250 and the rings for $100.

Good luck on finding the flat top pistons for cheap. That would be the LQ9 (or LS2) pistons. I also wanted to go flat top, but they are quite a bit more expensive.

LQ9 Piston from Speed Pro: H1129CT ($375 from RockAuto)

Note that these are also designed for a floating pin (not pressed like the LQ4) so you will likely need different rods as well.

Another option if you have a stock bore (4.00") would be to seek out a set of used LS2 pistons. I have seen a set with rods go for as little as $150 on eBay.

Best I found when I was considering this were the Scat rods. They have a press fit version and a bushed version.

Scat Pressed: 26100944P
Scat Bushed: 26100927

These both go for around $300.

Again, a used set of LS2 rods may be a better way to go (financially) especially if you are keeping things rather tame.

u can get around 10.5-10.7 scr with lq4 pistons and milled 243 or 241
im around 10.7 with milled 243, .060 over lq4 pistons.
flat top not really necessary. and the dish has bit more of ptv clearance than a flat.
