Default What is 2003 6.0 from a 2500 with a spun main bearing worth?

I know a guy that has a 6.0 that spun the #1 main bearing. He already picked up a replacement motor for his truck and is looking to sell the old one to me. It's a complete motor minus starter, waterpump and power steering pump. What is the engine worth? he is asking $250.

More than $250 if that's what you want to know. If you want to buy it for a stroker or something, that's a smokin deal.

May not be worth a dime if the mains in the block can't be lined bored and straightened out. So it is really a gamble till you get it to the machine shop and they tell you it can be fixed where you can run it again. Till then it is really just a good boat anchor

So make a deal with him and tell him to wait on you for the payment till you have it checked out at a machine shop! He has nothin to lose and you get a great deal if its salvageable.

That is what I would do, chances are if he don't go for that you were about to get burnt.

Can I jump off the topic for a second? Thanks guys I knew yall would understand!lol I wanted to know how much power can this 6.0 handle if it were straight out the truck in good shape? Would it perform way better than our 5.7's? Any pros and cons?

Same internal components really, just a bigger cylinder bore. So they usually need all the same upgrades as a normal ls1. Rod bolts, head bolts, timing chain, then take it out and beat on it.
