Default 228/232 cam results??

I was considering getting a 228/232 cam .580 lift 112 lsa, does anyone have any dyno results for this cam? How much RWHP will it put down on a 02 camaro fbody, 6speed, car completely stock? Also what heads would flow best with this cam?

Also when doing cam swaps, what else can be changed, since you're going deep into the motor I just figured I might as well change everything that needs to be changed or improved?

Any advice pls,

Thnx

1. Timing chain
2. Lifters
3. Springs (A must )
4. gaskets ( goes with out saying)
5. oil pump
6. plugs & wires
7. If automatic I would do a tranny cooler or 2 I run 2 (AZ car)
I am sure if I forgot something people will let me know and some people will agree with the list tweak it or completely disagree that's the beauty of a forum.

That cam seems to perform better with a relatively high CR and excellent exhaust setup.

With stock heads and exhaust, the valve events and ample overlap (~10 deg) of that cam will not be optimized. If you can go the route of adding longtubes and a quality head combo of about 62-64 CC's, then it makes sense.

That cam is gaining in popularity and can be ground or purchased on any LSA and advance. The 111 and 110 LSA seems to be a favorite of the torque crowd (including myself).

I would not suggest that cam on a stock motor without the above recommendations.

Good luck.

I have a 228/232 .588/.595 110+4..... I made 419 RWHP and 385 RWTQ. I just went to the track and went 11.8 @ 119 with stock 241 heads and stock LS6 intake....

what kind of power will it make?

and why the **** are you going to put a cam in a bone stock car? i hope you have intentions of buying every other supporting mod that you will need!

lets see here:
lid
longtubes
good Y pipe/catback/cutout setup or true duals
springs
lifters
timing chain
rockers (id say anything 70k+ miles & up)
oil pump
plugs & wires
gaskets
injectors would probably be good idea, maybe a fuel pump.
a tune is a must.
your probably going to want a cltuch as weel, since its a decent sized cam, might burn the stocker up real quick.

as for the heads, it depends on what kind of power you want and, moe importantly, what kind of pockets you have. a great set of heads will make any cam look like a champ, but crappy heads can make a great cam look like a dog. some stock or ported LS6 heads should be fine for the cam you are looking at.

I want to hear how that cam works. That is close to what I am going to try next. I have a 233/239 on a 112 and it is too much cam for the street, but it goes like hell on the track. Peak power is at 6400. I'm thinking that a 228/234 on a 112 will have a stronger bottom end, and maybe peak lower than 6400. I have ported heads and intake so you may see power at a different range. That will be a lot of cam for a stock motor, it will make it jump up and shout. Good luck, let us know how it works. You do need new springs, quality pushrods, and a timing chain, replace rockers if they have many miles.
