Default kind of disappointed, Misleading

Just got mine in the mail, the book starts out great but once it gets to the heads part it just speeds to the end?? Like they ran out of time and rushed the end, does not cover intake, fuel system or exhaust...at all!! front cover has "induction and exhaust" listed and on back cover it says "topics include intake manifold, fuel system, and header selection"?? this is clearly not the case at all!

There is absolutely nothing about intakes, headers or fuel system..I mean nothing! It goes from installing the valley plate to conclusion???

Overall the book is awesome in the short block area, but rushes through everything else and just leaves you hanging when it comes to intake, exhaust and fuel system.

Good book but someone messed up when they designed the front and back cover.

Thanks
T

Thanks for the feedback, I was wondering when someone would point that out actually. I do believe whoever had a hand in the front cover text and rear cover text was on crack as it was always intended to be an internal engine book (oil pan to valve covers), nothing else would even fit. The F+R covers are done way before the book for advertising purposes, but I myself did not see it until a month after I finished it. After a few phone calls to book company (I wanted the already printed covers changed); I then actually quickly wrote an extra chapter including those topics but it was too last minute and there just wasn't any room either. I was over the text and image limit already (176 pages is IT). That chapter ended up rewritten with both LT1 and LS1 information and squeezed in my F-body book instead. If I'm ever allowed a revision, that is one thing I will demand to be changed though along with a few smaller items.

I think it covers the How-To portion very well, in fact if I were to rewrite it again in 2-3 years it would be identical. Much of the information I added is from repeat problem areas I get phone calls from ("unfamilar to LSx" installers), so much so that I have to block 99% of the calls to the shop to get any work done on LS vehicles!

Yes, the pictures came out well! Thanks for the help.

The engine swap manual is a huge project, the direction it is heading is general swap related topics with 3-4 swap examples. It would encompass the size of a bible if every popular swap is documented. What I do think I will add is a page long table showing which swap-specific hardware is required with each project car. I might be looking for some S10 pictures actually...

I've only signed my familys copies and about 3 others. If you ever catch up to me at a race or any other event I'd be happy to sign it. My penmanship has severely deteriorated over the years though, you might "only" want my signature.

I am hearing towards the end of summer. I should get my own copy in a month or two.

Just for you Facebook addicts (I am one, admitting it is the first step): How to Build and Modify GM LS-Series Engines

Don't know why I didn't start that group sooner.. I always wanted to have one and now since I just finished my 3rd manuscript I had a small amount of extra time to click a few buttons. Anyway for the guys who have used the books for engine builds or heads/cam swaps or any other internal LS engine modifications, please share some pics!

Also please post any feedback. If there are any questions related to that book I can also try to address them on that page. Thanks!

Just joined!

Great book, BTW...I bought it on the pre-order from Amazon and have read through it several times. One of these days I'm going to dive into one of these engines!

Cool, glad you like it!

I posted up a "Camaro Club" coupon to the FB page, would post it here, but it has other books other than my own.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I was actually wondering if anybody got their hands "dirty" reading the books.

Great! Are you talking about adding the new one? It's pretty much F-body specific, but has a lot of fundamentals for any car.

Awesome work! I have only read the book by Chris Endres (and of course my own a million times when working on it!) and having multiple copies helps to cover all bases. Someone else may cover something I may not have, and I may have covered something everyone else didn't, so multiple reference guides can be very helpful.
