Default cam swap going too good.........

Ever get that feeling something horrible is going to happen?.....So far so good though, im going to pull the stock cam tomarrow( dont think my wife will like me firing up the air compressor at 1am ). Hell my wife has been helping me with everything so far. hardest thing to do was break the crank pulley free and get the balancer off. Everything is just going too smooth for me, this isnt they way its suppose to work

There really isn't any reason that anything should go wrong.
Just take your time and think about what you are doing.

This website is not perfect but has helped many of us in the LSX community.

Don't rush it and everything will go smooth right to the end.

I found the most nerve-racking part was pressing the balancer back on. Lots of reefing and paranoid about damaging the crank.

yea...that damn balancer is a beast...had to make a late night trip to lowes to get a longer bolt to get it off, wrong pitch and threads but the first 4 threads matched up and that was enough to get it off...deffinently worried about pressing it back on though....but ive got nothing but time

Update....still having a great stroke of luck, swapped the cam by myself in all of about 1minute...wooden dowl rods FTW!!! my metal ones were either too rough or a tad off 5/16s. I installed a new rollmaster double timing chain set.....overkill....but wasnt expensive. Seems like the chain is rubbing the back of the pump, but I spun the motor over a few times and heard nothing hitting.

*****How can you tell if you pinched the oil pickup oring? Or is it one of those "you wont know till you see the gauge"

I also forgot to put locktite on the pickup tube bolt....big deal or not? kinda too oily to mess with anyways...

Use a little inspection mirror to check that O ring in the back. You can tell by how the parts seat together. And my double roller also rubbed, again use the mirror to check. Also clean the little metal debris on the chain that has been scraping off due to the rubbing. It looks like fine metallic powder...

I'm in the same boat. I just finished a converter, cam, intake, headers, motor mounts, oil pump, UD pulley install and haven't had ONE single problem. Just a few loose ends to tie up till I prime it and then put the plugs back in. Then I will pray as I turn the key...
