Default LS6 heads, are these good #'s

i had a set of LS6 heads installed on my ss, i have the flow sheets, but don't know much about it, the guy that installed them for me told me that they flowed 149 @ 200 and 307 @ 600 (which is true, according to the sheets on the intake side) are these good #'s ?....thanks for your opinions!

If they were flowed on the same bench ,they may be better than absolute's. Not saying they are but 307 is great and will make a car fly with the proper cam and set up. Very nice numbers man

Need to know what the heads flowed in the midlift say .300 to .500 before deciding if the flow numbers are good/bad/average etc. The peak numbers aren't very important.

Would also be good to have the exhaust numbers too.

Let us know what type of power they make.

when he sold 'em to me he only mentioned the peak #'s

on the installers dyno w/o me present 422 rwhp / 393 rwtq

on a local dynojet dyno (after) 389 rwhp / 368 rwtq

The numbers on the heads seem pretty decent, the intake flow numbers with the LS6 intake in place give an even more accurate picture.

As for the power, if the car is tuned and has long tube headers, LS6 intake etc supporting bolt on's I think the cam is too small on the intake side.

I think your exhaust numbers are good enough that a 224/224 is going to make better power than 218/224. I would look for a TR-224 cam or maybe a used one. Depending on your springs a 224 XE-R might be pretty nice too. Just my .02 worth

again most of us dont want to go around calling somehting good or bad when comparing different dynos and flowbenches. BUT, having said that, if you are running portedls6 heads, even through an automatic, you should be making much more than 389 rwhp. i would look for 400 unlocked and 415+ rwhp locked minimum with that small cam. the lift numbers are still a bit peaky, i would like to see more flow at .300-.400" lift if it was me personally. if you are happy with it, that is all that matters.

You did not mention tuning. Who did the tuning of the PCM?

There is lots of HP there to be tapped.

tuned by the same guy that did the h/c install w/ LS1 edit, according to his load dyno were at 422/393 (?) but just down the road using a dynojet dyno we were at 389/368 bounced the rev limiter at 6900

I know you already have everything set up, but I think that cam really is too small to even take advantage of stage II LS6 heads. Flow numbers seem a little low for ported LS6 heads (they won't have the low lift flow #'s that some of the other heads are capable of, but they flow awesome at higher lifts .500 and up) that's why they are usually best for aggressive setups and stroker engines.

I'd definately go with a bigger cam if it was me, then you'll start seeing more power out of that set up, atleast like a 224/228 580. lift cam or somewhere around there if not bigger. You'd be in the 400's with certainty with your auto and cats on there.

Not bad...not the best LS6 numbers put up..but not bad and probably more along what most everyone else is getting..don't worry...u won't loose too many races bro...unless ur car weighs something like my mom does then yeah a suburban w/a V6 could beat ya.
