2000 camaro ss, supercharged and underpowered...any guesses why?
Alright, so my buddy bought a 2000 camaro SS early this summer.
He bought it with 11,000 miles on it. Long tube headers, and a vortech supercharger kit that was installed in 2001. The kit included new injectors, a tuner, and a new fuel pump.
Since he bought it he has put 3 point sfc's on it, and a gmmg chambered catback. he also had a custom tune done.
The car ran 13 flats alllll summer...before and after the tune...shouldn't this car be in the 11's? It's running about 5.5lbs of boost. The best time has been 12.80...which ive seen stock ls1's run...
what gives? fuel pump? injectors? coil packs?
What do you guys think?

is he spinning his nuts off? whats the trap speed? that might give us a clue if its makign the power it should. if the kit has been on since 01, maybe something with that has gone wrong. get it on a dyno and see if its the making power it should be. if not, you might have a compression issue, boost leak, not enough fuel, etc. just go down the line and figure it out.

It's an A4, trapping 111mph in the 1/4. We've had 4 people drive it, all people who have been down the track many times, and nobodies broke 12.80...consistently runs 13.0's...
It hasn't been dyno tuned yet, just a hand tune done with a laptop at a nearby performance shop. The nearest dynoshop worth a damn is about 4 hours away in Chicago. (speed inc) which we plan to take it to in the spring. (it's starting to get real cold here, so storage time is coming soon for both of us...)
I just checked with him and he said the best 60 foot was 2.0...
it's not the driver...no spinning, near perfect reaction times, and to the floor instantly...

I take it this is the black one that was at Pat Mcgraths this summer? Thats a pretty baby SC on that car, and with 5.5lbs of boost without a stall or gears I don't see it breaking 12s.

Thanks for all yur input guys. I kinda figured we'd be starting at the fuel system, and that seems to be the general consensus. As we get more and more into figuring it out, I'll let ya guys know what we find out. He might just want to wait until spring now tho...it's gettin so shitty outside...we'll see...and it does already have drag radials and did have 3.73 gears for those passes, for people suggesting that...sorry i forgot to mention that in the original posts...
therealthatguy, I'll also get on checkin the tb within the next week or so...
