Unhappy Do i need a rebuild?

Lately when i drive my car and get on it at all it feels a little slow and im thinking i might need a rebuild? Before i go out and spend the money on a rebuild though i wuna make sure i need to have it done so im doing a compression check and other basic things i should. what should the compression be across the all the cylinders though? im not sure what its supose to be and my manual i have isnt helping me either? also any other tips other then like a fuel filter, plugs, and wires.. the car has just about 60,000 miles on it, 57,500 to be exact but im just rounding up. if you have any information or ideas on how to helpme let me know. thanks

The speed of how your car "feels" shouldn't be a gauge on if you need a rebuild or not.

More than likely you're just getting used to your car. It's normal for your car to feel slow to you after a while, that is the reason the aftermarket industry is so large.

Things that would indicate a rebuild is needed:
-Engine is consuming massive amounts of oil
-Knocking from the bottom
-Lots of black smoke @ WOT

If you're not having any of those symptoms, you're being too paranoid. If the plugs haven't already been changed, change them with NGK copper TR55's at stock gap. A fuel filter wouldn't be a bad idea, and sell your Hypertech programmer and get a real tune.

What's your oil pressure like?

FWIW, most stock internal LS1's I see going before 150K are ones that weren't maintained properly. Changing your oil every 3-5K isn't the whole story. Checking your oil levels throughout that 3-5K is what keeps your engine alive. There are exceptions and some do have problems early on, but it's pretty common for guys to go a full oil change without checking their levels and be 2 quarts low at the next change. I see it all the time.

With those miles and those minor mods, you should not have done anything to need a rebuild. Damian is right, get some ngk plugs, and while your at it, I would get some wires too, if you haven't already. Have you tuned your car yourself and then noticed the decrease in power?

All that means is that you are ready for more mods. For me, the car starts feeling slow after a couple of months with new mods.

Your car doesn't have a whole lot of miles, and minimal mods. Unless the car was severely neglected in the maintenance department, then you should be just fine.

Get rid of the Hypertech POS.

Time for H/C/I. If you're not experiencing any of the symptoms that Damian described, your engine is probably fine, you just wanna go faster

my car is getting ready to roll 170k miles and i am still running stock bottom end and pistons. I really doubt you need a rebuild. mine smokes when its hot and i idle alot or stop and go traffic but other that that it runs great. doesnt even use a half a quart between oil changes. id say no worries
