What are you wanting out of the motor? daily driver? weekender? Leaving everything stock or what? If you go with a cam, you'll need to replace your valve springs. What RPM range will you be seeing most of the time? What gears? Lotta questions need to be answered before swapping a cam. You gonna put in a higher stall?

Keep in mind if you go bigger, you'll need a stall as well as the correct springs and tune to go with the cam.

It all depends on what your plans are for the car.

if anything your engine will be around 405bhp minimum with that cam and those heads, assuming u got ls6 intake as well, it will net more if u have hi flow exhaust, tune, and other supporting bolt ons.

imo i think that the ls6 cam is pointless to put in. i just think that if youre going to take the time and spend the money you should get a little more out of it. and i would definitly get a converter. it is honestly the best mod i have done. if youre looking for a smaller cam get something like a 224. i have a 226 and it drives great. i take my car out for an hour or 2 at a time and have no problems

tr224 on 112 and a 2500-3000 stall in that light lil truck should do just fine.

If you are gonna stall it that cam would be great but then why stop there I would go bigger.

But.... What is budget? Stall $600+, cooler $60, cam $389, springs $150-$250+, pushrods $100, tune $450+......

or used LS6 cam $100, new springs $60 and I would do pushrods too another $100

Or the middle ground..... Do something like a 220/220 wth springs and PR's and run the stock convertor. I wouldn't recommend going bigger than 220/220 on a stock convertor though some on here do. I would still figure a tune in with this route....

If you want to keep the low end torque, the LS6 has it in spades.

Personally however, I would go bigger. LS1 engine still has great manners down low if you go with an afermarket cam with more duration. With lots more up top.

AT THE MINIMUM, something along the lines of the TSP 228R. its by no means a big cam so it will drive, idle, and tune just fine while making a good amount of power, 390+ with all supporting mods. the ls6 cam really isnt worth it. some people like 224's, but for just a little more duration at no cost of driveability, etc. you will gain more.

Do it once, do it right. Go bigger now or later.. I think you need to be closer to something at least 224-228 to get something that will put a smile to your face.

So if i'm understanding this right, if I were to put an LS6 cam in my LS1 I would have to change my srpings as well correct? I didn't know if those springs would hold up or not,

Yes the $60 LS6 springs. Go back and reread my post. It all depends on what you want to spend.....

Ya, use something in the mid 220 range imo. 224/232 or 228/232 etc...
