Default Doing heads/cam/intake/tb this weekend and want it to run okay out of the gate

Patriot heads, 96mm TB, 92/96mm FAST and a 224/228 cam. I am going back with the stock injectors until I can get it up to Fran to do the 42's and tune. So anything I should do to make sure it idles okay until that time? I know the IAC may be off so is that just cycling the key on and off so it resets? Anything else I need to look at so it idles good enough to make it there? I have Predator so I can make some changes.

Also.... Do I need an adapter for the 96mm TB to my air-lid? Or can it be heated up and water so it fits on?

I read on LS1howto to drill that small hole larger in the TB in small steps until it idles on its own. I chose not to do that. The MS4 cam only was a pain to get to idle, but my tuner drilled it out to his spec anyway. I had to keep my foot on the gas and left foot brake and hand brake it to a stop prior to the tune, this was on stock injectors, but also a MUCH larger cam, so yours maybe be OK with stock injectors.

I spoke to FAST last week about this very question. They said NOT to drill the Throttle blade. The re-designed the 92mm tb IAC passage to allow more air to come by not requiring the hole in the blade. Hope this helps.

Yea, do not drill the TB blade.

A 224/228 cam should idle fairly decent even without tuning. You might have problems with reversing, or coming to stops where it wants to hunt but that cam should run with no tuning. If it doesn't just turn your TB screw a turn or two and raise the rpm's until you get a tune. Then put the screw back where it was.

you'll be fine as long as you don't hammer on it. adjust the throttle blade to get a decent idle and keep it under 4k rpm's. I drove mine over 40 miles to get my tune done with the stock tune, stock injectors, and a bigger cam than yours.

Yes I agree as well, to adjust the throttle blade TEMPORARY for idle until you can get it tuned.

How about getting the factory coupler over that 96mm TB?

Ten years ago people were drilling holes in TBs but that is not the way to do it now. If you drive it around EZ it will learn to idle with the new cam in it. But you need to get a tune right away. Just turn the screw till it will idle if you need to. That cam should idle OK. I installed a much larger cam than that one and it learned to run but I got it tuned 3 days later.
