Default Call Me Crazy, & Beat me Silly. Im sticking with JPR.

Well after all the **** that has gone down over the last couple days with the JPR threads, and have come to a decision. My car is done and is now in need of some suspension work and a good tuning session. I was going to have someone local due the tune and suspension work, but it turns out no one is really very local to me. After seeing what happened to EZSS's car I was leary of bringing the car to a different shop for the tune. This was for obvious reasons. Many hands, little responsibilty. Mr.B said it it before that after talking to JD on the phone that he seemed like a good guy. Well I made the phone call regarding my car and warranty to JD. He was very pleasant and seemed like he was trying to help me. We have decided that it is in OUR best interest to keep EVERYTHING in house. I will have the Kmembers, Hals, and the Rear sway bar installed from JD. I got a firm price for all the work and the tune. I feel relieved that I made this decison because I can see down the road(God Forbid) any problems, I want to avoid any blame games from JP------>JD------->My Tuner Of Choice. To save $200 on a tune from a regional vendor just didnt seem to add up. I am now getting a complete JPR-JD package. IF, and I say IF there is a problem, WE ALL KNOW WHERE TO TURN. I am confident in both of thier abilities, and my car will hit the rollers on Friday. I, like most of you will be waiting anxiously for the results.
Now let the RWHP guessing games begin. Where will I wind up? Whoever guesses ON THE MONEY, I will send a little holiday treat to.
Here are the specs.
427 4.125 Darton Wet Sleeve, 4.000 Callies Crank. 242/242 .600 .600 112 I have Kooks 1 7/8th Headers with ORY with Corsa and no cutout. 4L60E 4400 TCS with 4.11's in rear. I have pulley and other little things. I say 483. Anyone?????? I know I tsaid some things to some people that I wasnt going to stick with these guys for the tune, but after thinking about the alternatives, I decided this was the best for me. Now lets hope I get the car back raring to go.

I stayed away from the ET & trap speed department because of my cars weight. Like me it is way heavy and not a "Top Contender" in the Big Cube catagory. I will be happy running 10.6-10.8 depending on weather. Anything lower than that will be gravy. Hey Ken if my car puts down 535, you will get a special holiday treat.

Seriously, you're so far in at this point, you need to stay with them and eliminate any other vendors from the equation. Kind of a sad state of affairs that you feel like you have to stay with a certain vendor because you don't want the excuses when (if) your $15,000+ motor has problems.

Anyways, I'll guess 512 RWHP (Joes stuff has always dynoed well, better than most). Good luck, keep us informed, Shawn

I would say 485 rwhp. I think that it would be more of a low eleven second car if you have a lot of weight. I am yet to see an auto go over the 500 mark. I would rather see track times than dyno numbers anyway. Good luck with the new motor.

Seeing as their dyno seems to be a little generous I'd say 517 RWHP. Bear, I think you will be in good hands. I know they don't want another issue like what happened to ezss. Bad press hurts businesses, I think all involved learned something.

Good luck and enjoy your new beast.

My car will not make over 500 rwhp. This is how my life goes. I want a Phat curve with a nice big area underneath. Kinda like JLo's Azz.

Thats probably a good decision. I would not even drive the car anywhere until it is tuned. No break-in, nothing.

Drive the car hard and the street, make sure there is no cloud of smoke following behind you at WOT and high RPM.

make sure the preload is set to much less than what mine was set to...you know the drill. Good luck.

Bear, do you have a written copy of exactly what the warranty is for your engine? I would make sure I had a written warranty and that it clearly spelled who JPR or JD or both etc would take care of any warranty issues that occur. Given the current state with two members having issues it's critical to get a written warranty in case something occurs.

Good Luck.

PS my guess is 501rwhp

Bear, You should be at or over 500 RWHP locked and hit 500 ft-lbs of torque. With a heavy boat, look for a cam to give you 450 ft-lbs at 4000 and 475 ft-lbs by 4500.

I'm standing by Joe too. I have a set of heads coming and plan on having him do the install.

You're a director here and you can't do the jmX head swap yourself?

Jeremy, with this great weather we have been having I cant wait to get the car back. My Hals were on B/O and will ship on Fri. I will have the car done with all the new suspension mods right around Xmas. I am leaving for Utah for 8 days 2 days after Xmas so I wont go pick up the car till after the New Year. It will be cool, a New Year and a New Car. New beginnings.

TA12Sec, Joe is difficult to deal with on the phone. I would say this was his weak point with me 2 years ago. As time went by we got on the same page. THIS IS ONE REASON HE GETS A BAD RAP. He ports the **** out of heads, but then takes on installs normally ALL BY HIMSELF. He does have help from time to time. I think that Joe getting out of the install, phone call business is a GOOD THING. He will be able to devote more time and R&D at what HE is BEST at. He has always done good work for me............ittttttttt just takes a little time.
