Default CompCams & Crane Suggest cams for 409/427, which to use, 236/240 or 250/258??

I got off the phone with compcams and then crane cams "cam help tech line"

I need to decide what i want in the car.

I need whatever is going to make the car the fastest at the track on nitrous...i dont make motor passes ever so nitrous is the only concern. the car will be on a 250-300 shot all the time. Compcams seems a little mild for this weekend only, track/streetracing setup....

CompCams suggestion
54-000-11

I'd say the specs from crane look better duration wize, but I don't like the lift. needs to be somwhere around 250/258 .620/.620. Stick with the 114 LSA for nitrous.

Thats fine if you want to kill lifters and can't get the car to idle. I would go with the first cam. I have a 242 single pattern with .595 on a 112 and idle is at 925 with some surging. The smaller cam won't lose much power, but will give you much better drivability. That 300 shot will put you at like 800+ rear wheel. Crazy! Should be good for 8 second passes with your weight.

you might want to think about upgrading those macs to some good 1-7/8s headers.

and I would go with the second cam choice, looks like a good 7k rpm spinner

BTW I have a 242/242 .610/.620 112 LSA cam in my 422, with no surge, idling at 800 rpm, tuning is great huh? hehe

Go with the second cam. The lift will be easier on springs as well when spraying. Grind a bit of advance into it if you dont want to spin the motor over 7K rpm. With tuning and an 1000rpm idle the second cam will idle fine.
I agree with going to the 1 7/8 head too. I would go 2 inch primaries with 3 inch collector and extensions if you can find them

Ok, just talked to a compcam tech guy for quite a while

He did me a complete custom lobe using some of thier bbc stuff...

He did a 3376/3377 hr 114 +4 grind

Its a 244/254 , .612/.612 @ 114 +4 degrees ground in...
We are hoping for 500 rwhp through a th350 & independant rear in my c4 vette 409" ls1...
