gday everyone. Looking for people who have had experiance with this cam.
Im tossing up between this and the FTI streetsweeper-HT. I hace contacted Ed directly and have some information off him, he basically said Depending on the range of power you are looking at, the original SS-TQ (220-224 i think) is a better profile for a low and mid-range power band whereas the SS-HT will come in slightly later but pull higher. Both are proven power makers. TQ is normally from off idle to 6000 in an LS1 based power plant. The Ht is usually between 2500 to 6600 RPM. I didn't get much feedback on the rebel though.
"REBEL-TQ" Camshaft
Specs: 224*-228*-111*-.600"-.600"
SweetSweeper-HT" Camshaft
Specs: 228*-232*-111*-.612"-.600"
My car is a HSV VU Maloo R8. It is LS1, T56 manual and 3.7 diff gears. Approximate weight is 1600 kg. Modifications currently include LS6 inlet manifold, Difilippo 1 3/4" 4 > 1 long tube headers, 100 cpsi hiflow cats and dual 3" Difilippo cat back, OTRCAI and mafless tune. I am looking for a cam that makes good torque and power throughout the rev range and has a noticable lump at idle and tough exhaust note. The car is a daily driver so i would like to retain good street manners if possible. I will most likely NOT be doing any more power upgrades after this (I.E forced induction or heads). Possibly upgrading injectors if required.
So yer if you've had either of the above cams tell me your combo and what you thought of the cam.
Thanks in advance
Cheers

I have ran a similar cam profile as one of your choices..228/232 110+2.
Ed's descriptions of each cam are accurate. There have been a few cam experts on this board that have led the pack on using lower LSA's and durations on the 224-228 range. My setup is somewhat different than yours. But, the TQ range is from about 2500-6000 Rpm's, then slowly falls off.
While it is always good to get differing opinions, I would go with Ed's suggestion(s) based on your vehicle weight and gearing.
Good luck.

Well, I have the FTI Rebel TQ - XL in my regular cab short box 2wd Silverado. The truck has a manual transmission, 3.73 gears and a 255-70-16 tire. With a 90mm truck intake manifold - 243 heads and a LQ4 shortblock and is pumping through some shitty 1 5/8" primary OBX headers. I managed to lay down this.

Thanks for the replies. from those dyno charts seems to lay down some very linear power delivery.
I wnat to go with a FTI cam, jsut need to decide which one hahaha.

I have the SS-HT in a GTO 3600lbs in its current state.
It pulls great up to 6800.
If you want power available right away then go with the rebel-
If you don't mind waiting for the power a little bit then go with the HT.
The HT does take a little longer to get me the power I'm looking for than I expected, but if you drive the car hard then there is no problem.
If you race the car, then go HT- If you just want a little more fun from your daily driver then go with the other
