TR 230/224 with 3.42
TR 230/224 with 3.42 Does anyone have this setup?..I know I should go with a 3.73 or higher but 80% of my driving is on the freeway <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ...Also what kind of gas mileage do you get?..Mods are in sig Thanks...

Really bad idea. Ideally you should be running atleast a 4:10 for that cam. It's really gonna suck down low with 3:42's, and I'd wager to say you will regret your decision running it with those gears.

Re: TR 230/224 with 3.42 This cam is NOT for a 3:42 geared car. It will be a complete dog until 4K rpm's. 4:10's or higher are a must for maximum performance with this cam...

Re: TR 230/224 with 3.42 I'll step in here and say something. I don't have the 230 but I do have the 227/224 in an automatic. I'm running 2.73 gears and a yank 3000 converter. Also have ported heads. I don't have a down low problem. Granted it pulls a lot harder up top but it's not bad down low either. I'm not sure how much of a difference my stall makes but just thought I would put in my experience.

Re: TR 230/224 with 3.42 I have this set up and it SUCKS. I hate driving that thing in the city. You can't run your AC because it practically kills the car. But on the freeway... aawwww yyeeaaaa. Drop it down to 3rd going about 70 will break the tires loose and scream up to about 110. I can't wait for some extra $$ for a 12 bolt with 4.30's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
