Arrow New LS1 Oil PANs and water pump

I posted this over in the fuel system section. I realized that it was the wrong place to post it.
Hey guys i just got back from MORE performance and they got some new stuff in. They got the brand new Canton Oil pan for LS1 F-bodies, it is really bad *** and they are a distributor for the new Meizer water pumps. Here are the picts on them. If you are interested in either of these call Mike or Amber at MORE performance @ 704-393-8241

Weight is the biggest factor. The stock pan is quite heavy. Prolly save a few pounds, say maybe 5 or so? It does require remotely mounting the filter, so that keeps the oil a little cooler and increase capacity a bit.

The dry sum pan is a whole different ball game.

Allows you to keep the oil in a sump, usually located inside the car somewhere, and remotely feed the motor. I think the intention is to keep the oil cooler, have a larger oil supply, and reduce friction of crank sitting in oil. May have something to do with crankcase pressures also? Never have dealt with a dry sump.

Great article. Seems like a good mod to do for high dollar motors. Where does the "other" oil pump go for this setup?

The dry sump oil system is powered by a crank power oil pump that has one pressure stage and one or more scavenge stages.
It basically sucks oil from the oil pan, or anywhere u route the scavenge lines. It them pumps it into the remote oil tank, which is normally much larger in capacity than a dry sump system.
Then the pressure stage plumbs into the block and pressurizes the oil into the engine.
The biggest advantage is that the pressure in the crank case is almost always negative because its always sucking oil and air from the engine. It also reduces windage tremndously, because there is no oilstorm inside the oil pan.
The oil is normally cooler, and has less air in it when it is pumped into the block because it has a chance to deareate in the oil tank. The oil pan also is much smaller, so you can lower the engine for a better center of gravity height.
Its great if you can spare them expense, but normally its not a street car item.
