i'm back with a 02 lsi this time
hello guys , i just took delivery of my new toy , 2002 Z-28, A4 , bone stock w/16,000 miles ......
my last was a 98 Z-28 and i put LTs with true duals , LS6 intake and a f-13 cam with a 3600 yank stall ......
how much better are the heads on the 02 LS1 cars vs the previous 98 that i had ....... i am planning a similar build and i am looking for your input , should i go with the F-14 cam or stick with the F-13
i am so exited to have yet another LS1 to go and burn some rubber.....

minimal differences as far as performance.
if you want upgrade...ls6 heads are available and not too expensive.
the F14 has put up a lot of good numbers over the years. although there are some new cam designs out there, and they're making CRAZY power with small duration.

yeah so minimal in fact 02's always beat 98-00 in a 1/4 race
i'm not gonna type my proof unless it's asked for, anyway's i'll be upgrading to 241 heads from my 853's because they're proven to be better. yes a set of 243's would be the best but if you don't have the money or like my situation they are already assembled and ready for install, use em

thing is they also changed the cam, changed the intake and changed the exhaust manifolds.
from what i've seen there is only a 15-20hp gain by using the 243 (ls6) heads...which are an improvement over the 241 (ls1) heads....so you can't tell me there is THAT much of a difference in the 853s.
otherwise simply upgrading to 243s would be showing 30hp increases...
but anyway....
budget heads will make a HUGE difference in performance...regardless. something as simple as the stg 1 ls6 heads from TSP for $1000 will be huge.

i was hoping that with the same mods that i made on the 98 would net approx 15 more horsepower , but i guess i'll just have to settle for the same .... just don't want to go through the hassle of taking the heads off of this car just yet.
what about removing the smog pump , what does that do???

smog pump...you mean air pump?
nothing except clean up the engine bay. its only on for a few minutes at startup. and its electric anyway.
even EGR has minimal performance impact.
