I'd rather run higher lift and excellent springs than lower lift and lesser springs...especially when the heads are capable of taking advantage of the extra lift.

I'm running a 112 X1 on my Z06 with the stock heads (other than the manley duals), pulley, stainless works lt's, 3" dr gas catted xpipe, stinger catback, and tuned by Chris Robinson. Its pulled 410/395 sae at a couple of different dynos and my best et is 11.40 at 120, 1.58 60ft. Thats with the 3.42 stock rear and CCW et street. HRP 11-9-03, +800 DA ft.
The car idles incredibly well. I drove the car all the way to hrp from DFW getting 33mpg each way....
btw...here's the vid of the 11.40 pass:

and yes, that little s10/luv (not sure what it was) is fast. Most folks were telling me I was going to lose....in fact, I think alot of money was swapping hands in the stands after I pulled it out

Colonels original response is still the best and truest.
For what it is worth. I run 127mph through the 1/4 using the X1 and MTI heads as the motor combo.
not too shabby for a A4.
Just from personal exp i would vote for the X1 as the cam to choose.

I've got the X1 cam and love it. I considered the TR230 as well... I'm not as worried about spring life with the better springs that are out now, so I would assume that the X1 is worth slightly more HP on the top end ~3-5..(?) The way I look at it, getting the X1 is like getting the TR230 + a bolt-on.
The other consideration was lsa (111 on the TR230); the guys at Thunder told me the TR230 idle quality made it almost more "racecar" than streetcar. My Z is a daily driver, so I appreciated their honesty and went with the X1 which is slightly more tame (112 lsa).
Both MTI and Thunder are first class IMO so you can't go wrong either way.

I went with the TR 230/224 cam for my street car, which is now a race car, but the cam has been in my car for a year now. I drove every day with an automatic and the 230/224-111 with a little tuning has a never a problem on the street. I personally LOVE the choppy idle sound, sometimes I think about a 110 cam
Anyway I ran a new best last Sat 10.60@126. Like Colonel mentioned the 2 sticks are so close to each other, I bet if I put the X1 in my car I'd run pretty much the same ET.
