cam for gas milage?

cam for gas milage?
Is there such a thing or has anyone even tried to make/research enough to make one.
I have a ls1 block, wiesco pistons and rings, scat H rods, stock crank. I have a BRE cam installed with PAC springs and the correct pushrods. I'm tired of trying to find someone that knows what they are doing with tuning, and I've had to pull this motor for misc. reasons 4 times....tired of messing with it and it gets shitty gas mileage 11 mpg average. I need to replace my lifters soon, so I'm going to replace this cam that's destroying my motors and put something mild in there(might even go with stocker). I plan on spraying it when I race (not very often at all). It's also a DD. Thanks for your time and attention.

The main reason i was thinking about stock was for the tuning, I can go back with a stock tune and decent gas mileage with a stock cam, I've had a ls6 hot cam, and loved it. Depending on if I can get a decent tune, I might go back with another one of those. I get misfires constantly and it dies atleast once for every 3-4 redlights I pull up to.
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond guys.

It's a BRE cam, The owner doesn't want the specs to be know, yadda yadda yadda, but I'd say high120's 618ish lift and 114+5 lsa. But that's just a "educated guess" because I have no cam card (he keeps those)

It probably just needs a proper tune. O2 sensors and maf wont like some cams.
Just get it tuned right and all will be well. Unless the valvetrain is not right which might explain why you mention stuff busting..

plus 1 on what ringram said. when the shop did my engine they did a little test drive and dyno before the tune and still on the stock tune. the car would shutter until finally it would go, and die at just about every stop. it took them 21 pulls on the dyno because of a bad factory maf. i have had this current settup for almost 2 yrs and not once has it had to be retuned. i have it checked every 3 months by the same people and we do a drive test. it does sound like you need to get a better tune. if you mind me asking who did your tune and what are they useing. ther are several useing the piggyback system on the lsx's in the okc area. but my shop uses the hptunners and burnes the pcm with the tune. u get so much more out of a tune. he has also taken some of the other cars done by the other person or persons and has gotten them anywhere form 30 to 45 more rwhp. a good tune is more than likely what u need ... good luck!!!

Theoretically, whichever cam builds the most torque in your driving RPM should give you the best MPGs...with everything else being the same/equal. Here are some to consider, also... http://www.vincihiperformance.com/CA...%20LS1%202.htm

I would say you need a tune big time. In my 408 with the Magic stick 4 I get 24 on the highway and about 16 around town. Waking the town and allerting the police I get about 12-13 mpg.

It does sound like you have tuning issues going on. Mine is self tuned with Hptuners, I'm running a 238/242 .595/.595 112lsa idling at 995 rpms and it will stall about once a week when on the brakes and turning the steering wheel... With alittle more airflow/throttle cracker tuning I should have it idling lower and no stalling... I'm a novice tuner and by nomeans a pro and pulling 20 mpg highway/ 15 mpg city lol and under 2 mpg wot

I have the BRE 224 cam in my car and I have gotten 28 mpg highway. My car does not die or misfire at all, but I have spent hours upon hours tuning my car with a wideband. Is it his big duke cam or the 224? Either way they are not beginner cams as they have a lot of overlap.

It's the Duke. I've had cammed cars before and the guy that has been tuning my car says that he knows what he's doing with this specific cam(supposedly) and there's nothing wrong with tune. I'm just going to go with a tune from a different person on a dyno and wide-band.

Good luck man, find the right person and they will make you and yor car happy
