most ls7 cams are 3 bolt-only 1 year i believe was 1 bolt. You can use the ls7 cam in an ls1,but you do have to use the ls2 timing chain and frt cover and get a ls1-ls2 cam sensor extension harness. You would also need to upgrade the valvesprings. While the ls7 cam would make more power than the stock cam-you would be much better off with an aftermarket cam-which would probably be cheaper in the long run.

Based on what I've seen, the LS7 cam looks like a milder version of the CheatR cam with about the same LSA so it would probably sound stock in an LS1 but move up the peak power up a little past 6000 rpms.

Stock for stock to me is not worth it. Unless you are doing all the work your self you are going to have to pay some one to do all this work for probably a total net of about 15 to 20 rwhp when a well picked aftermarket cam can net you about 30 rwhp. I am also thinking that your going to need a 1.8 rocker some one will correct me if I am wrong.
230/211 .591/.591 1.8 rocker ratio
230/211/ .558/.558 1.7 rocker ratio
You are dropping a fair amount of lift just by going with the smaller rockers and the LS7 valve train is made to run with the 1.8 rocker ratio. the LS1/LS6 valve train is build to run with a 1.7 rocker ratio.

ya why spend extra on all the conversion kits that will probably be weaker eitherways... a custom ground will produce more power/torque for less the cash and far easier install. simply not worth it for the LS1
