best budget heads for 6.0 besides the l92's???
I'm an LS newbie, i've read here for quite a while, but I'm still learning. For a total BUDGET build, what are the best stock heads(with possible porting) to use for a 6.0, with little more than a cam and spring change? I am very capable of porting my own heads, as I have done many BBC and sbc heads, but I've never worked with an LS motor before. Are the stock 6.0 heads good w/ porting, or would a smaller cc chamber head flow as well after porting AND give me some compression? I could not find stock valve sizes for the different heads here?
I am trying to determine if I should sell my 454 and go LS......I am realy liking the LS from what I read. Street/strip 67 camaro w/ previous best of 12.00 @ 115 w/mild 454 4 speed.
ps I will run the vic jr intake/msd box and a carb.

I would look at a set of LS6 heads. They will be the better head to be begin with if you are going to try and port it yourself. They are similar to the 6.0L heads but with a smaller (64cc) combustion chamber.
If you decide you want someone else to port them let us know, we can CNC port and CNC valvejob them for you for $650!

even in stock form the 243/799 heads are very potent when correctly matched with supporting parts.

I'm still learning about ls motors, and apearently lots of others are still learning how to cam the large runner L92 heads effectively for smaller cube motors like a stock 6.0. I may go with the l92 heads in the end, but want opinions of those who have made power with the other factory available heads, and done it on the cheap.

This thread has some good basic input on the L92 head topic. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...whos-best.html Patrick has some right on statements regarding the l92 heads; simple and to the point. Theres is nothing that special about these heads or any LS head when it comes to picking a cam. Flow and Fluid/Gas dynamics do not change because they have an LS attached their name. People on many LS sites would have you believe that these heads somehow defy the laws of physic, they don't.
