Default Perimeter bolts Patriot Heads

I have a '98 TA and am considering the 5.3 Stage 2 heads.

I notice they are offered in both centerbolt and perimeter bolt patterns.

Is a 5.3 perimeter bolt the same as my 5.7? I find it hard to believe GM would make multiple versions, but just making sure ...

you sure the 5.3's are available in perimeter bolt . my understanding is all the 99+ heads were center bolt and coil pack bracket setups.

only the 806 castings are perimeter bolt.

I think the only perimeter bolt head that GM has made is the 97-98 LS1 head. All truck heads are center bolt heads.

The $995.00 price is only for the 98 perimeter bolt heads. All of the centerbolt heads are still $1295.00.

Thought I'd re-ask this one, since I'm curious as well. Sounds like lead time is approximately zero, since you've got so many, but since they're LS1 heads, can they be milled a bit to raise the compression?

I guess that means I need to read up on the importance of milling heads, and the ramifications

Yes,they can be milled to rasie the compression ratio.

Thanks Terry. I'll go through the archives and educate myself a bit on the implications of milling, but can you give me a rough ballpark of what ratio can be acquired through milling? Or is the cam so highly dependent (due to lift + overlap?) that's it tough to really say?

Can you estimate a ballpark with the XE-R 224 that TSP sells (.581 lift)?

Happy Holidays,

-Jake
