Don't get too caught up on a custom cam, a lot of OFF THE SHELF cams were designed for CAM-ONLY LS1s and at one time were considered "custom". Give your shop TR, TS, Speedinc, LG, etc a call and ask for their recommendation.

Personally I'd look to the Torquer V3 or possibly the Texas Tsunami camshaft. Either camshaft is a good bit smaller than the T-Rex being discussed, but that's probably better considering this isn't a feather weight drag racer with tons of gearing. I think the smaller camshaft like the Torquer V3 would probably be much more enjoyable to drive & would make within 5-7 peak hp of the much larger camshaft while using over 10 degrees of less duration. Not to mention the Tsunami & V3 have WAY WAY better p/v clearance than the really large camshafts out there.

At what point does your stall speed come into play when selecting a cam? Im sure you want some torque below the stall speed. but for a street car, when would you want the car to wake up?
I was looking at some reverse split cams. Im guessing they would be good for a smaller intake system since the intake duration is greater? More power under the curve at a lower rpm. But having a 4000 stall would throw that idea out.
Have I limited alot of potential with a 4000 stall for cam only? Should I consider some budget heads?

i'm running the same cam as chrs1313 also, and love it. i'm cam only and love the driveability and the power down low. hit a 7.5 in the 1/8th last season and am planning on doing a little better than that this year. full weight and also have a pt4000.
