You could get the best cam in the world and it won't make near the difference that a stall will make.

gears, stall, then cam. Thats your best order, and goes perfect with your current budget.

man if you have 2.73s id get the gear before anything i did a 230/224 cam with 2.73s and it was horrible man i was crossing the traps in the top of 2nd gear itreally sucked. 3.73 will make it a totally diffrent car. ive built a couple of ls1s now and id do gear first. gear and converter if the funds are available. my gears cost me 190 and 200 for install. circle d converters are pretty decently priced.

Thanks Guys,

I just ordered the gears....(3.73's baby) from a sponser on this site gears plus master kit 300, found a recommended place that will do it for 250 and as soon as I get it back I will do my first "frost tune" ....Damn I am getting excited thank you for the help can't wait to take it out after it is done, I will probably hit the track for the first time. I had no idea that I cam with my mods was a big no no....Thank you all

I was kinda getting at stall before gears. Either way cam would be the the worst decision at this point.

Why wait til after to go to the track? Why not go now and see if the gears help you. There are few (reliable) gear only swap results out there for these cars. If you go make sure to get the temp, elevation and overall DA of the track you go to.

I was going to push the converter before anything too. I went with a cam before the stall(sig). There isn't even a track where I am, but in safe conditions I have ran a handful of cars here from a stop and roll. Way too many dead spots. I hate making a decent amount of power and having the car fall flat on it's face at 35-45, 75-90, and such. I ordered an ss3600 and I can't wait for the powerband snap and shift extensions.

Hey I am reading this and wondering why nobody lists facts. My 02 ws6 t/a auto with cat back and shift kit ran 13.1's @ 105-106, headers &3.73's went best 12.79 but ran all day at 12.8's 6 passes, put converter,tranny cooler,and rear slicks and ran 12.3's12.4s all day@109 but had no power for a hwy run. Tranny eventually went as all things do when you race. put stock converter back in and Nitrous best bang for the buck guy. Times in my sig with stock converter and slicks and skinnies.

He said it was a garage queen, so I would assume he doesnt plan on nitrous. Gears were a fine upgrade. Just take it one step at a time. Dont worry about getting a cam and heads until you got your suspension and transmission portion of your driveline figured out.

No one really said it, but if I were to get another fbody I would do all the suspension stuff i could before even messing with the motor/trans. You can have all the power in the world, but if you cant transfer it to the ground its useless.
