Default LS6Valley cover or Catch Can

Which is better at oil control? I never thought I had a problem, but have noticed a slight amount of oil on the intake walls. If they performs equal I will probably go with the valley cover mod as to reuce amount of crap under the hood, last thing I want is to add more to an F'ers engine bay.

Thanks,
Charlie

Charlie,

I did the LS6 valley pan mod and eliminated all oil consumption and my intake is now bone dry.

I did the LS6 valley cover and it didn't help at all! Get a catch can. I'm using one now and the intake finally stays dry.

The only thing you will need is an LS6 valley pan which is about $60.00 from a dealership. You will have to grind off a boss in the middle of the block on the passenger side, you'll see that the LS6 valley pan won't go down all the way unless you take the boss out. I can't speak for anyone else but mine worked like a charm, no oil usage and no oil in the intake manifold.

For those who have done the LS6 conversion to a '98, how did you plug the factory PCV ports on the valve covers?

I connected the two heads with a hose. BTW, that grinding thing can be done by two cuts with a small metal saw...

Get both! I have the LS6 deal and it sucked. It sucked more oil than my LS1 setup, but then again, my motor is nothing like it was with the LS1 setup either

I did the LS6 valley cover and it seemed to help a good bit. I still need to put a catch can in but I am pleased with the results thus far.

I did the LS6 valley pan and PCV and it worked well for me.
List of needed parts
1x 2001+ LS6 Engine Valley Cover (1x GMPN 12568002)
- 1x Valve cover plug (1x GMPN 12568011)
- 10 inches of 5/16 ID Rubber fuel line from autoparts store OR 1x GMPN 12568010 (expensive!)
- 1 5/16" vacuum cap, if your LS6 cover doesn't come with a red one pre-installed
