What is this broken part?
I'm installting a new intake manifold. After removing the stock one I found what I think is a broken sensor at the back of the engine block. Don't know if it was already that way or if I broke it removing the manifold but I figure it needs to bre replaced. I don't know what I'm looking for. Anyone know what this part is called? One photo is from LS1Howto the other is a photo I took. You'll note that the sensor is kind of leaning over.

the first thing i do is pull the vacuum line out of the brake booster so it doesnt catch on the OPSU. that way i can pull the intake out far enough to unplug the MAP sensor and HVAC vacuum line without breaking the OPSU. the brake booster vacuum line catching on the OPSU is what breaks them usually.

GM was thinking...the harder they make it, the more money dealerships make because people cant work on it themselves.

And YES I do agree with you. It looks to me, so many cars are much harder to work on these days forcing people spend more money in the shops for repairs or maintenance.

I bet you're 100% correct. I didn't disconnect mine until the last step. In fact, the web site I was reading tells me in the instructions to disconnect the hose much earlier in the process. They don't say why, just to do it. Maybe it would have helped to clue us in what could happen.
