Even if he botches the port work, you will still probably get 5-10rwhp just from having smooth exhaust ports. lol

My block is trash too (#7 rod shot out the side of the block and blew the pan apart), my crank is still perfect (rod shattered). One of my friends has a good block (his #8 rod went) took out his crank

After everything we will have a complete good motor sitting in the garage for a spare....so don't throw your parts out yet lol find a friend with different broken parts.

To the Op. I hand ported and milled .040" off my stock 241s and noticed a nice bump in power (should have put them on a flow bench)

Not that big of a resume, but I had a friend that all the little "secrets" to porting and machineing in general....he worked in machine shops, built dirt track motors, and made a lot of his own tools for over 50 years. He had a lot of knowledge and even more stories lol, I miss him, he died a few years ago, but had a full life while he was here.
Lol I guess we are all conservatives in here...I like the avatar too!

Free = Nice !!!

It would be very cool to see them bolted on and the car dyon'd but I understand that isn't going to happen. Just saying because it would lend a lot of credibility to the work your Dads friend is doing on the heads. Before and After is always nice. Getting to see exactly how much you picked up and where you made gains or losses if any.

Whats the best kind of HP ? FREE HP !!

Good luck.
