I would only use that cam if you were thinking about going boosted. Don't ever get used springs. You really never know what kind of rpms they have seen or mileage. Just looking at them won't tell you anything either. Springs and pushrods are 2 of the cheapest internal engine upgrades you can do in order to strengthen your valvetrain. If he is giving you then cam, sure, it will work/fit. I wouldnt go to the trouble to do the swap unless I had an incon twin kit sitting right there though.

But to answer your question you need a few more things. Coolant, springs, pushrods, a couple quarts of oil, new balancer bolt....just to name a few things. And if you are doing the swap yourself make sure you have several 10mm sockets that are good quality. I have mushroomed a few over the years trying to tighten down the rockers.

That "junk" cam trapped 96.5 mph in my bolt on only (at the time) z06 in the 8th. I would say thats pretty good. I also swaped it into my trans am when i pulled it out the z06. I just put in the cam, springs, push rods because I knew the miles/history and since the TA had some miles on it I replaced the oil pump and timing chain. If I had it to do over I would still do it again, I didnt do the mod expecting 50hp increase, I knew what I was going to get when I did it and I was fine with it. On the stock tune it drives just like it did before the cam, just more pull up top.

He probably meant 25 flywheel hp, but numbers are subjective depending on what dyno your on. The TR224 has more duration and lift than your LS6, so obviously you would make gains. I doubt you'd be 440 rwhp plus on 'most' dyno's, cause your 417 rwhp with an LS6 cam is already more than most expect or see with a stock LS6 cam. 417 rwhp with bolt ons and an LS6 is already a small miracle in itself lol.

I want about 50 - 75 more hp out of a cam. my buddie is going to port n polish my heads for next to nuttin and help me with the install of all. I dont know about cams at all! If you are talking about putting a ls6 cam in the "500+ hp" car and looking to INCREASE power think again. Sounds like it needs a tune, you would be suprised what a good tuner can do.
