There is no magic oil. Amsoil,Redline,Motul,Mobil all have great synthetic offerings depending on your intended usage. Remember UOA's dont show which oil is better. They can show how long a lube can stay in service and if any issues like a coolant leak( sodium) is occuring. In fleet use after many miles trends can be followed. This is not possibly for the casual user.

Ditto, its what I run but not the stuff on the shelf these days, the original GREEN formula from a few years back, the good stuff! PP and even new P`Ultra is great too. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com

Do not know because I have never used Syntec therefore I have never researched it. I do know that Edge (5W30) is very thick to the touch.

ive seen them on the shelves at auto stores, but was curious. ive been using castrol syntec and plan on just running that along with my AC Delco filter. Ive been using 5W-40 for almost 3 years. but thinking of switching to 5w-30.

If I had to buy oil I would use Brad Penn. Go search it and read some of the testimonies on the site. It's pretty amazing stuff. I get penzoil platinum 5-30 for free because I used to work at and still have hookups at Jiffy Lube. I change my oil like every 1000-1500 miles but I usually put several passes on it between oil changes since I bracket race the car.

I have used Mobil 0w40 for a the past few years with good results. I will be switching over to Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 as a friend of mine with a LS1 Corvette has had just as good of results from oil analysis tests as well.

Get an oil analysis test done and you'll see if your oil is good or not. My BMW approved oil is Mobile 0w40 and typically a oil test has shown that even at 7,000 miles the oil was still good with minimal wear. I still change it at 5-6,000k in that car. Since my Camaro see's less than 3,000 a year I just change it yearly.

After a little research the German Castrol 0W30 is a very good oil to use if you are not running cats. Their Phosphorus content is 1000ppm there fore staying well above the passed laws that you need a maximum of 400ppm which really can leave your engine naked and easily liable to breakdown.
