Get an oil analysis test done and you'll see if your oil is good or not. My BMW approved oil is Mobile 0w40 and typically a oil test has shown that even at 7,000 miles the oil was still good with minimal wear. I still change it at 5-6,000k in that car. Since my Camaro see's less than 3,000 a year I just change it yearly.
Remember, UOA's only show ppm of metals in the oil, not actual mechanical wear. The only way to measure that is with a micrometer upon tear down. There are too many variables to rely on UOA's for wear, ie chemical and mechanical wear, lack of long term trending..........
