I think that im going to go and take it apart and double check the timing chain just so I can rule that option out. thanks for the replies and I'll keep yall updated.
also taking the timing chain cover off would that mean i have to change the cover gasket again?

The metal type gaskets are reuseable. However take this with a grain of salt as after 100k they seem to need replacing. Otherwise, if all is well it should seal back up fine with a used gasket.

If I were you, I would take pictures of the gears and the dots so we can take a look at how its lined up to rule it out.

I finally got the time to check out the timing and like I said before everything is dead on. so i put everything back on and she fires right up and idles perfectly for about five minutes. it started with one backfire then it started doing it pretty rapidly. i shut the car off and try to restart it and it struggles to restart after about 30 secs of trying it starts and a code finally pops up p0301 which is misfire cylinder 1. so i pull cylinder 1 plug check it and it looks pretty toasted, so i replace it fire it back up and am back where i was at before a lot of backfiring.

do you have another coil pack you can try with a different wire? check wiring to the coil, compression and the injector. not much else it can be. do you have tunimg software? if so it should be easy to see whats happening on that cylinder

trade plug wires to another cylinder if you don't have an extra...see if the code follows to that cylinder

if not swap coils to another cylinder

I just finished swapping plugs at first then fired her up, the misfire cylinder 1 code still came on. so i swapped the coil packs with no luck the code just keeps coming back.

you need to check compression and also you may have an issue with that injector, could be stuck open. is the plug white or black and carboned up? what do you mea by burned?

The plug is black and carboned up after maybe 10 mins of total run time. how do you check the injector? and the compression check was going to be my next step
