I recently picked up a LQ9 with 43k miles on it, I am going to pull the 317 heads and install a set of 241's and trying to figure out what cam I wanna go with. Right now I have a crane 224/224 .563-.563 114 cam in my ls1, I am wondering how that cam will do in a 6.0 and if I should run run that or go bigger. I have been looking at the tr230 cam and it sounds like what I want. Car is my daily driver and I do not hit the track, I want as much low end power as I can get and not concerned about spinning it above 6300 rpm's. I am looking for a stop light to stop light cam, I have BBK 85mm TB and Intake, slp long tubes, borla exhaust, pushrods, springs, lid, air and egr delete, and 3200 stall. I dont mind some lope but I do not want a valve train killer either, looking to stay under .600 lift so I dont have to buy new springs. May also fo with 243 heads instead of the 241's if I can find a good price.

I may be able to pick up some L93 heads really cheap from a friend and wondered if that changes what cam I will need? I have been searching about the TR230 cam and I have read that it is a mid to top end cam and some say it pulls hard down low, I want a good low end power cam, any suggestions?
6.0L with 243 heads and your current cam should do exactly what you want. Maybe advance the cam a couple of degrees to bring the curve down a bit.
L92 heads flow a lot of air, but cam selection is only beginning to become more than a black art. You can make daily driven power with those heads, but why complicate matters? L92 heads will require anotehr intake, larger TB and possible MAF, but all of your existing parts will sit right on top of some 243's.

317s have same intake runners as 243 LS6 heads. just have a bigger combustion chamber. LQ9 is already 10:1 which is a nice safe compression that will still make good power. just get the 317s opened a little
You have a good cam right now, I was looking at a very similar cam in the TSP 224r, but the TSP 228R looks like a lot more fun. Thats what I'm going with in my LQ4, or the Crane 228. Keep the lift below .600 and duration 230 or less and you will have a solid under the curve cam. That was the advice from Patrick G, and he is the man for cams!

Guess I have decided to stick with the 317 heads milled 0.025" and that should give me about 10.5 or so and 67-68 cc chambers. I guess I will run the crane 224/224 cam but I wanted a little more lift than .563. Will be running the 6.0 with a 3600 vig stall, any ideas what I will run and what Hp I will be at. Do you think the 68cc chambers are going to kill my power or should I mill the heads to 30 and get another cc and more compression? This is my daily driver.....BUT I want POWER!!!!!!!!
