Running 4.8/5.3 heads on an ls1
Hey, you guys with 4.8/5.3 heads what size pushrods are you running?
I just picked up a fresh rebuilt ls1 shortblock for my 2000 rcsb 4x4silverado. My truck has a 4.8 with a 222/224 .568 .571 113, Thorley headers, 4.10s, and hp tuned by wade lieck at hpe. My current plans are to swap over the 862 heads, cam and headers onto the ls1, but im not sure what size pushrods to go with. Ill be going with a circle-d 3200 stall also, later on down the road ill pick up some 243/799s for too. The cam i have now is pretty big for a 4.8 but how do yall think itll be in my ls1? I put down a weak 260 hp and 265? tq with the 4.8, hopefully ill be in the 300s with the ls1.

PR length will vary a bit depending on base circle of the cam, lifters, gaskets, etc. Your best bet is to buy the Comp PR length checker measure. It will save you a lot of hassle down the road and take the guess work out of your build.

This is good news! lol I was going to go with stock replacement gaskets also, i was thinking the stock length 7.400 would work fine. Just wanted to make sure.

Ill check it for sure. Im not about to half *** it. lol It came out of an 04 z06 (ls6, but since i didnt get the heads with it ill call it an ls1) then into a 2001 TA, and then a bearing went out. Instead of fixing it he had hpe pull it. I bought it and they sent it to a machine shop. They said it didnt need to be decked. The motor had about 20,000 mi.
