Default How to purchase a ruined shortblock????

Here is what I got for $2500 from The Home of Late Model Performance. Only 200 miles after rebuild and no refund. This has got to be the most expensive set of Callies rods on the planet.

Who else thinks that these walls are trashed? The entire driver side bank is like this.

Here are some more pics for your viewing pleasure. Who else thinks these pictures "make it look worse than it really is?"

Cylinder # 1

Cylinder # 3

Piston # 4 showing a pit from detonation

Cylinder # 7

And my favorite Cylinder # 5

Some crap that on a lot of the walls but this is the worst.

All of these scuffs are on the driver side bank. The detonation pit is on the passenger side. NONE OF THE CYLINDERS HAVE ANY KIND OF CROSSHATCHING. NOT EVEN A REMOTE MEMORY. This is how I received the engine from Daniel Raff who is the owner of Late Model Performance. I didnt want to out anyone because I hate it. But after not responding to my PMs and ignoring my phone calls I have no choice.

Pulled # 5 out and this is what it looks like.

I've never seen detonation cause that type of damage. Tough to tell without direct examination, but it looks like it was assembled without cleaning the walls/pistons or oiling them. It also may have had some sort of abrasive substance present.

Looking at the swirly marks on the block's deck surface, I'd speculate (just a theory) that abrasive cleaning materials were used and the dust/debris entered and was left in the cylinders.

Also, it's very unlikely that detonation caused the pit on the surface of that one piston.

Did they use sand or oil in the block? That looks like crap.

Daniel is denying me the refund because "I used the product and took it apart". LOL. Thats what he told paypal when I opened the dispute. Looks like its going to be done the hard way.

That's fucked. I've never built an engine before, and I feel like I could do a better job on my first try with just a video tutorial lol. It literally looks dry, I thought freshly assembled motors had everything all lubed up?

I would be pretty damn upset. Granted I don't know the other side of the story and will refrain from talking about a sponsor, good luck with your case.

What a F$%ing POS

Sorry to hear man, it's people like this that ruin business for reputable shops, and ruin online trading as well.

What a joke of a human being.
