Default 6.0 install for '99 Camaro????

i bought a '99 SS roller last year and after trying to decide what to put in it i have decided to go with a carbed 6.0....can anyone tell me any specifics i will need to know to install one.....oil pan, headers, etc. i was going to go with a BBC, but have decided this has to be easier to do with fitment, etc. and i do not want to do alot of butchering if i don't have too. if anyone has done one or know of someone that has, let me know what i will need to know before i get into this. Thanks in advance!!!!!

Headers should be the same as usual. I am pretty sure the LS1 oilpan will work. Just curious as to why you're going carbed. 6.0l EFI can make gobs of power. To my knowledge the carb kits limited as far as tuning to whatever the MSD box will do as opposed to a guy that can tweak every last thing on a dyno.

if i can find a complete 6.0 with fuel injection and computer then i probably would do that, but it seems to be i am finding there is always something missing and can't find a complete set up.....so i figured i would just go with a carb since i am more familiar with those. and it will either be a th350 or 400trans too. and i don't have anything to compare dimension-wise either since it was all gone when i bought the car, so i assume it might be a trial and error deal too with oil pan, headers, engine mounts, etc.

maybe someone can tell me if this is a decent price.......was offered to buy a complete 2001 6.0 with injection, starter, alternator, PCM, and wiring with 150,000 miles, 190# compression, 60# oil pressure for $700......i just basically need to know if there are certain years to stay away from or which years are better than the other! Thanks!

All the junkyards here in the Denver area are asking between $900-$1500 for complete intake to oilpan 6.0s out of yukons and such. You'll have to change out the intake and oilpan to F-body stuff as the truck ones won't fit. Other than that you can throw it right in and have the trans stuff for the th400 all churched up when you do your tune. I would certainly pay the guy $700 bucks and throw some forged rods and pistons in the bottom with some heads, headers, intake, cam and tune and then have a damn stout motor.

Don't forget to find out if it's an LQ4 or LQ9. Escalades, sierra Denalis and the some of the SS trucks had the LQ9 which has higher compression and 25 more hp.

Thanks!!!! is there an L92 too or is that something all together different? so basically all years of the 6.0's are pretty decent, just some models of them are alittle stouter than others......learning more and more everyday on here. Thanks again!

L92 is the newer 6.2 that the new trucks have.

Only difference between the LQ4 and LQ9 is the LQ9 has flat top pistons that raises the CR to 10:1

that must have been why it was a little cheaper than most of the others, i called him back and it is a LQ4 with VIN code U......and i am assuming this is a dish piston with 8.5-9.0 to 1? at least now i am going into this with a little more knowledge than i had this morning!!!! Thanks!

9.4:1 for the LQ4. They are cheaper and all it takes is a set of pistons or some smaller chamber heads or for that matter both and you're kickin 11:1.
