if you already have a ls1 block do the 383.if you don't have a block get a ls2 block and build a 402,and get some l92 heads for TSP.

Texas Speed has a lot of nice choices so go to there website or give them a call and they can point u in the right direction. Also there is a section on that stuff on our website that says how to make 500rwhp.

IF you look under streetsweeper cam, there are a couple guys with this cam and either ETP heads or performance induction heads that made between 480-515 rwhp. I have this cam and love it so far. Fast enough for me with 405 rwhp.

is it a street car?? DD?? Weekend Warrior?? Drag strip only car?? What kind of trans, etc. I mean you can get 500 h/c but then add rear end, trans work, and your powertrain will eat it if your a drag car.

I think it was TR that had their stroker cam in a 383 that made like 540 or something crazy like that haha. It can definitly be done with the right amount of money invested and the right parts used.

Man I would read throught the stickies above. I would just get a good head cam combo. and find a good tunner.
There is so many factors. Do you have a built trans? a stock one will not hold the H.P.
And a 500 hp ls1 motor is alot unless you have a great set of heads and cam. Then the right trans gear combo.

your cheapest FI route is going to be a remote mount (rear mount) turbo and a cam. Some 6.0 heads if you get them cheap.

There is really no 383 or 408 stroker combo that is "reasonably cheap" and makes 500 RWHP. You are better off with a stock bottom end LS1 with awesome heads, custom cam, roller rockers, 1 7/8" headers, and fast 92/92 (or 102/102). A less than stellar stroker combo will not outperform this option.

If you really want to stroke it. Don't spare any expense with heads and intake or you might regret it.

I had the same thing in mind that you do and in the end I went with very nice components as i didn't want to have an under-achieving stroker that would get smacked by equal weight heads/cam ls1 cars.
