Default ??? LS1 cam or LS6 cam ???

ok my motor just has shorty headers no cats and intake mods. will be installing SLP 1.8 rockers. which would you use LS1/LS6 some have said the LS1 has better RWHP and all the power on the 01+ Camaro's is mainly the manifold? thanks for your help.

The LS6 cam will provide about 20-25rwhp over the LS1 cam from 4k rpm to 6500rpm

im not really a big fan of rockers seeing as how it limits you on future cam choices and you can buy a cam for cheaper and make more power but go with the rockers if you so choose.

if your talking about which cam would you use for the rockers the ls6 will gain you more power then an ls1 with the same rockers. if you use the ls6 cam with the 1.8's make sure you have a spring good for .600 lift as i think the slp springs in the kit are only good for stock ls6 lift.

i will be using the ls6 springs with new retainers/caps, new keepers, new manley pushrods, and new slp 1.8 rockers. so i was checking on what come to stuff in there? thanks. if i can get a good price i will also put the ls6 manifold in there...

so your using your stock 00' cam and the 1.8's correct? you dont really need the new pushrods, they are optional. all you need is the new springs and you can reuse your old retainers since i believe the ls6 springs comes with the same steel retainers that the ls1 springs come with and you can re-use your old locks as well.

really? why is that? all over i see the LS6 springs are what you need for the 1.8 rocker upgrade.

Ls6 Springs are good for .55x lift.
Now, add ls6 cam + 1.8 rockers and that lift increases past the spring's capacity.

Maybe with the lift a stock LS1 cam has. Add the additional lift the LS6 cam has and it is too much for LS6 springs and 1.8 R/As.

ok i just bought the beehive 26918 comp cam springs on ebay... will these work with the OEM caps(retainers)/keepers? thanks for the info. oh by the springs i had bought were the Z06 04' springs not standard LS6. diff part number too. i wonder if those have a diff capacity. anyhow, this is the info i needed thanks!
