Are you using a 1/2" drive socket with at least a 18" braker bar? The crank threads are NOT reverse threaded, counter clock wise to remove.

Get your self a 1/2 inch drive set. I have even had to use a pipe extion on my 18' bar to get enough torque on some engines. If you have a buddy have him hold the the socket so it can't slip off the bolt and strip it, get the handle of the bar at 12 oclock and pull like hell from the pass side of the car.

that bolt's torque spec is 250ft-lbs

you're going to need some leverage on this one... consider a 1/2" drive breaker bar + cheater bar

also, how is a bolt locking the flywheel right now? I used the GM flywheel locking tool that bolts in place of the starter... worked really well . Hopefully the bolt doesn't damage the flywheel.

these bolts i screwed into the end of the crank where the flywheel would be. they hold well, but wow.... i cant believe its that much.... 250ft lbs. i gota do this to take my crank out and see if its repairable one part has a ridge in it since the spun rod bearing wore it down a bit, do you guys think its repairable? its a ridge on one part.

You really have to use 1/2" drive. I just did my cam swap and broke a 3/8" 1.5" extension trying to remove that bolt. I went to lowes and got a 3" extension for my 1/2" drive and then STILL had to put a 24" breaker bar on it. Once you break it loose it's only hand tight. Such a weird feeling to put 250lbft on a bolt for 1/4 turn then its just finger tight.

Great question. If you can tell us exactly how many bricks are in a pile, or how long a piece of string is, we can tell you whether your crank is salvageable.
