Default need some help...

im looking at buying a 99' c5 6speed with 34k on it..
atm its stock and when i buy it its going under the knife.
looking to get like 375-400 rwhp.
im staying n/a though
anyway i need some advice i already got a list going but if you guys can point me in the right direction on parts.if there better or needed/uneeded parts.

its going to be a daily driver (250+ miles a week)

volant CAI
ported stock thortle body
ls6 intake manifold
TSP long tubes w/ 3" x pipe
borla staight pipes (no cats.)
stage 8 header bolts
msd 8.5mm wires
SFI underdrive pulley kit (2pc.)
manual fan switch, or get the fans tuned for 175*
ls6 cam(me and a buddy will install..so 15hp for 100 bcusk it easy) unless theres another mild cam without a super nasty idle???
ls2 or ls6 heads
meth injection (only bc its hot in so cal. and lowe intake temps is always good...plus 91 oct. gas is gay so maybe help bump octane)

textralia oz700 z grip clutch kit w/ steel flywheel
drill mod
hurst short throw

3.90 gears

i definetely want to stay n/a
and dont want some idle monster lol. i know it will be different i just want it refined a little...
anyway guys plz let me know if theres better/needed or un-needed parts..
also oil coolers? when should i get one because its gonna be a daily around town/highway car. i dont think i would need one..???

im looking at 375whp as a goal. but if i can change a few things and pull 400 then plz let me know

and yes no cats for cali i got a guy who smogs my cars

there are better cams I wouldn't spend that much time installing a ls6 cam call texas-speed or some other sponsor and tell them what you want!! if you can afford get some new or used 243/799 heads and a fast intake with tb you can find 90mm 92mm and the new 102mm that will put you on the 400s with the list that you have!!

from my understanding the ls6 is a better option
bc the fast is so much and they arent to much different...from what i read
and its kinda of a budget build
maybe 5500-6000
and ya ls6=243 heads i thought?

so ls6/ls2 heads (only difference is the lightweight sodium filled valves?)
and ls6 intake mani for cheap horspower lol
what would be a mild cam they wont kill gas mileage or bottom end?
and plz anyones advice on the oil cooler?
i dont think i need one because i dont forsee my oil temps getting that high...?
is 400rwhp doable with a baby cam? (22x cam)
(i really dont want to kill gas mileage and dont want a nasty idle?)

can i pull 400rwhp with a tr220 cam?
im reading alot of people use it as a "sleeper" cam..
obviously the tr224 will make more power but at a compromise.
i want a stock idle or close to it.

so any thoughts on the tr220 cam or the MTI's Stealth II for stock or close to stock idle?

I had a 228r cam for a while. it was custom ground with either a 115 or 116 lsa. unless the headers were open you couldn't even tell it had an aftermarket cam. As long as you don't go too crazy on the cam, someone who knows how to tune should be able to make it idle for you with no problems. Whatever you do, take time on selecting a cam as this can be the largest hp gain you will get. and you should be able to make 400rwhp with $5k no problem, especially if you are going to install the cam and heads.

btw, I still have the 228r cam. Took it out after I built a 427. Only has about 1500mi on it. Let me know if you are interested.

ya thanks and ill look around a little more before i decide
right now its tr220 or tr224
the gains with the tr224 i would think might be 10>20hp on the high side?
so i might grab the tr224 just for the extra little hp bump and get it tuned as best as possible...

but since im going lt's,x-pipe,and straight pipes its gonna be hard to cover i think lol...
or i might go ahead and do ls6/ls2 heads with a ls6 cams (yes not much power) but i can install myself so 100$ for 10-15whp is fine...
anyway i might go ls6 head & cam and do a 150 shot?
i know i wont have enough to do a nice cam and nitrous...so i just gotta decide! nitrous+ refills is gonna be more obviously but it will be nice lol 150 hp over 45hp

I have long tubes and a custom y pipe with the borla catback, no cats obviously. I just used a block off plate for the borla and directed all of the exhaust through the muffler and its really quiet at an idle, at WOT its a little louder than a stock one but not by as much as you would think. I don't know how loud you like your vehicle's to be but I hate driving down the road and not being able to even think because the exhaust is so loud. fyi, lobe separation angle as a LOT to do with how the cam will idle, but it will also move your powerband around ie higher lsa=smoother idle with a higher powerband. I think stock is somewhere in the 118-119 range but I could be wrong

the vette im buying is from a older guy (56) was his weekend car..
and i can grab it for under 12k
so i dont find that to be that bad....
and for miles...i make decent pay to get another car but right now its vette and build lol then a beater down the road..im only 19 atm and had a semi built audi s4 (483AWHP) stolen out of a valet parking lot in vegas. during my little sisters softbal tourney.
kinda funny if you ask me...how they got the car out of there unseen.

anyway point is audis are maintenance beast especially the v6 bi-turbos like i had lol. not cheap at all and i was putting the same on it. had it since i was 16, built it when i was about to be 18.

i think it will work out alright. unless i can find a decent ls1 camaro. i'd opp for that instead but no luck yet. and when i do find them its at or just about the same price as the vette. so for its obvious decision to me at least.
12k ls1 ss < 12k c5 vette

alright guys so ive been searching around and said screw the head/cam for now

im gonna go bolt ons/dry nitrous/tune
then ill look into cams and ls6 heads
unless i can find a junk yard with em or get em fairly cheap
i think a 125 stealthy nitrous kit would be pretty fun.

gonna run some ls6 36# injectors probably...might go a little bigger

and get a progressive controler
75 hit up to a 125...just to be completly safe

Gonna get it tuned for the bigger injectors, or gonna wash your cylinder walls and gonna buy a new engine.

Sounds good. You went into great detail on the plan but didn't mention tuning, so it looked like it wasn't on the agenda.

just shy of 12k lol
and sure i would love to through cash at the vette.
so far im racking up cost on engine and trans lol
gotta do so audio and suspension as well
all in all it will be like 10k invested
easy lol

man i miss that audi though lol :/
had baby turbos in it and was pushing almost 500awhp. (ported k04's)
soon to come was gt2871r and a gt2876r. get some badass spool and some bad *** top end without falling off to much..
full forged internals. 83mm piston...man i want it back

audis are the ultimate sleeper lol..i mean how many people expect a 4 door luxury sedan to put that kinda power down...anyway vettes gonna get some love indeed.
