Alright so I got some motivational good news after the leak down test today. I cleaned the bores and put new rings on a couple pistons, torqued the head down again using the same MLS gasket and only got 13% leakage on both cylinders. I think I'm just gona start assembling the motor and do another leak down test when i have the long block assembled. Considering all the bores look and feel the same, I think the rest of the pistons should produce similar results.

I figured since I have gone this far I might as well just strip to the bare block and see if anything else was damaged
Not looking so good...
Hot off the BBQ...
Then I spotted these...pretty sure confirmed I need a new block so if anyone has a bare block or even shortblock laying around please let me know. Gota love no oil pressure
I'm also still working on converting the interior color to black. This is what I finished so far

The bearing shell and cracked block don't look like oil pressure issues, that's a botched crank install.
What clearances did you measure on the crank mains, and what brand torque wrench did you use for the main bolts?

im with you on this one. if you walked up to me on the street and showed me those bearings I would say you have excessive crush, distorted crankcase or a bent crank. it seems very drastic for oil starvation but still possible. a typical bearing that was starved of oil will turn dark blue or black but in the extreme it could tear apart like yours did. can you post pictures of all the main bearings in order?

I got pretty lucky and found a guy selling a block and crank ]20 minutes away from me. I have been doing nothing but cleaning the whole weekend. Here are some pics
After a little wash and attention...
Also got done with one door panel

It's pretty easy. 3 subframe bolts on each side, 2 strut bolts on each side, hydraulic line and the front brake lines off the distribution block. I'd rather do that than wrestling with the bellhousing/tranny bolts.

If you know what you're doing it probably takes a full day to disconnect everything from the top and bottom and then drop it. Its not too hard, but i crap myself seeing the bumper above me in the air hoping the whole car doesn't come crashing down.
