Default PCV breathers instead?

Sorry if this is the wrong section but is there any bad things that come from using a pcv breather instead of the huge ugly setup that is on the car stock? I would LOVE to get rid of all that extra junk and just use a breather instead.

It works for some guys, and for some it doesn't work. I tried getting rid of the PCV crap off my previous '98 Formula (434ci, 525 rwhp) and using several breather type filters, but the crankcase pressure was too high and it kept blowing out my valvecover gaskets when making a pass. Talk about a BIG, smokey mess.

The catchcan and PCV setup worked great instead.

Can you explain this more? I would love to get rid of the PCV crap or at least make it look neater.

How about just putting a breather on and leaving the rest of the PCV system, will that hurt anything? Would that alone increase the crankcase pressure?

I removed mine and just vent to atmosphere through breathers. No problems so far but it will blow some oil out on the valve covers, when you run it hard. I have to clean my valve covers about once a month.

how bout keeping a stock setup, and using a braided hose for the outside of the PCV lines?
it would clean it up a good bit IMO
and also use the braided lines to and from the catchcan
those Greddy catchcans are always on Ebay for a discount, btw

You can make a custom setup if you want, I have mucked around with stuff for several years.

Right now I have a Metco Breather on the passenger side valve cover, and I have the driver's cover looped into the back of the passenger side cover.

I prefer a catch can but I might do a crank evac kit so we'll see over the next couple of months.
