I swapped over to stock 243's... didn't see too much difference. My friends 370 z and my WS6 tend to run identical times, after my head swap I'd pull on him slowly everytime.

I'm not sure it was worth the time and effort alone, but after doing the LS6 intake as well it feels like a different car altogether.

cool, i plan on gong a lil further than just bolting up a stock head.. more like a texas speed ported ls6 head, and a ls6 intake or fast. trying to stay away from camming the car right now.

You can't put things on like heads, cam or even an intake manifold, run it with out a tune and expect to see the full potential of this mod. You are literally changing everything that happens once the air hits the head into the chamber. A stock tune on an LS1 is set for 241 heads, LS1 intake manifold (pre 2002) and LS1 exhaust manifolds. Also for every 1 modification there is another that needs to be done to maximize its potential. For 243 heads you NEED the LS6 intake manifold and also exhaust. While the stock ZO6 has manifolds they are less restrictive than the LS1 manifolds hence everything works together to give you a better performing engine.

I'm considering this route...I want to port a set of 243's or 799's (not myself, I'll pay the right people to do it).

I think a set of wicked heads on a stock cam/stock bottom with all the external supporting mods should make my daily driver a lot more fun...and lose NONE of it's daily driver appeal.

Of course...I'll probably cam it anyways...if you (or your tuner) does real good work in your computer...a cammed engine will still run great.

I second that, after doing just stock 243's, and an LS6 intake my car pulls great... but I plan on having it tuned ( and tune out the EGR ).

Sorry for the off topic response. I say get a cam to go with your heads.

I drive my car a lot, about 25k miles a year. A mild cam like my TR224 114lsa is very street friendly. You will gain power everywhere, no bad manners at all. I've put over 60k miles on the cam in the last 3 years.

i understand supporting mods will have to go with the heads,
the plans are full exhaust, heads, ls6 intake, and anthony from fast tracks tuning it. and 25k miles a year isnt alot to me...this car will see more than that. ill drive 250miles a week just going back and forth to work. thats not counting the gym and dates.lol
the reason im staying away from a cam at this time, id like to keep it budget friendly so i can do another build on my ss. i may put a small stall in havent decided yet...

holy ****! lol mine has 82k on it right now. i plan on it being a fun dd nothing crazy, just good reliable power,
but props on the mileage...means you took care of it.
im actually contemplating stealing my ls6 intake off my 02 ss and buying it a fast setup. either a 90 or 92.

A fast setup with out a cam would be useless.. maybe even hurt performance.. its just to much intake.. a nice set of well done 5.3 heads and a ls6 intake and ported throttle body would be the way to go staying stock cammed..
