forged internals help to spin that high, also that cam is larger than the OP cam 23x intake, that's mikey's car he is local...I would say upper 6k for sure I don't see 7200...could be wrong but I don't see this setup being that far off from mine...

we shall see don't see to many that peak past 7k easy...

Your cam also uses LSL lobes and are a fair bit more agressive, which provide more midrange power with less high rpm stability. I'd say his setup will peak 6400-6600 rpm and carry well to 7200 easily. Hell my 224 cam (single PAC 1518 beehive springs with 13,000 miles on em) carries to almost 7000 rpm with out falling on it's face, not that this was the goal, but it goes to show what happens when you have well setup valvetrain. Guys who like to spin a lot of rpm use less agressive lobe profiles and these EPS lobes always carry well (very stable) into the upper rpm range. There is a fine line when trying to setup a high rpm hydraulic roller setup, too much spring pressure you collapse the lifters, too agressive of lobes / heavy valves / heavy rockers / heavy springs, retainers you have valvetrain instability. I like to leave this part up to the experts

haha okay when you first posted you said make power past 7k which means it hasn't peaked yet...

now I see you say carry to 7k in the last post and I would agree ...

Default Issues concerning high rpms?

Regarding this setup's peak power/powerband, I've thought about a couple things that might limit big rpms (7k).

1. Mid 23x intake cam lobe + low ICL - It'll make good top-end for sure, but it isn't designed to live solely above 6500rpms.
2. Stock valves (original ls1 weight/size) - heavy suckers. I should have at least gone with a bigger intake valve, but things ($$$) added up quickly.
3. Lightweight steel retainers - While lighter than stock, they aren't titanium-light (They're what Geoff recommended for durability/longevity)
4. Ls7 lifters - although the ls7 vette' redlines @ 7k, I do regret not spending a bit more for Comp R lifters.
5. Stock rockers - At least for now, I held off on the trunion bearing upgrade.

Or are these trivial factors in turning higher rpms?

You did the rod bolts though. I had a set of Comp R's and got them setup correctly before installing on my last stalled car and they were awesome. Lots of people griped about them, but they just dropped them in and never looked back. I think you did okay with the LS7's. All in all, I don't see why you can't swing some RPMs. Definitely square a day away and do the trunion upgrade though. I need to do it too. Maybe we can redneck up and meet in the middle of OK/TX and do them at the same time in a parking lot.

Hell, I have family just south of Dallas (Southlake). Next time I'm down, I'll bring some beer, my rocker arms, and a banjo.

Well...maybe not the last item, but it sounded fitting...

6. 5/16" diameter pushrods - too thin? Perhaps some flexing up top?

The least about amount of weight possible on the valvetrain is a good thing.

FWIW, I've twisted 5/16 pushrods to 7200rpm on a constant basis for 3 yrs with no problems.

Shhhh. I'm just hoping it arrives before the tune on Monday. If so, I'll share with the class.

Congratulations on getting everything done and to your liking this time around. I hope this setup exceeds your goals for quite a while now. I can't wait to get my car running, but I need motivation. I need to parooze through a few more people's threads who have finished their cars. When are you getting the car tuned? I'd like to see some numbers out of it.
