Opinions on the MTI C1 cam
Someone locally is selling this cam and I am debating on trying to pick it up if i can get a good price on it but first I haven't really heard alot about this cam and can't really find much info on it other than it's 222/222 .588 .588 on a 112LSA.
Does anyone have any info on it and whether or not it's a good cam?

so it's a proven cam...
now i have also heard good things about EPS cams though, how would it be in comparison to the EPS 222/226 or the 228R?
reason i ask this is because my birthday is coming up on sept 3rd and i was planning on just getting a tune on my car done but i happened to run across this C1 cam and wondered if it would be better to do the cam and then tune the car.

I would have someone spec a cam for you or go with a new lobe design. Its alot of work to put one in and also alot of money once you get pushrods, springs, timing chain, oil pump. Mine as well not settle for any old cam. You could always go with the streetsweeper cam in my sig, probably a little big for ya though. It pulls like crazy.

well the guys said $225 for the cam but to make an offer, basically he wants it out of his garage. if i don't go this route i would more than likely try the 228R or i've heard PatG can make cusctom cam specs with EPS and they lobes are easier on the valvetrain.

I don't think a new cam will be that much more. I would always be a little scared putting a used part in my car. I would go with a newer cam and you will probably be happier and not always thinkin there is always something better out there

I have the "C1 Hammer". 222/222 .566 .566 112 and love it. I just took it out the other day after 10 years for an update. It is very hard for me to get rid of it as I love the cam. If does not put up dyno numbers but it performs extremely well! Not to mention it sounds amazing!
Guys have ran into the 10s with heads and weight reduction back in the day.

I would say just get the 228R or get a custom spec'd cam from Pat G like you said. After everything is accounted for with a tune this is going to cost about $1200 so wouldn't you rather have an additional 10rwhp (give or take) over the C1 and get the 228R. It shouldn't trade up anything in the midrange and it still will have great drivability with a good tune.
Plus if you do heads down the road, the 228R will shine that much more.

It was proven.......10 years ago. As I said before, it's a decent cam but very out dated lobe technology/engineering.
It's not going to make as much power as an EPS or 228r cam, nor will it have the valvetrain stability of an EPS cam. The 228r is a 228/228 XE-R/XE-R cam. I believe the C1 cam is on an XE lobe.
Way too many variables in that question sir. Gearing, chamber volume, intake choice, etc...all play a factor into cam selection. Holler at me and I'll help you with it.
Damian, what is your opinion on that cam for a l92/ls3 402 stroker combo with all the supporting mods? How much and rwhp and tq should be expected?

Well looks like since I am going to go the different route I figure i'll go ahead and start buying part by part. Since i will more than likely have to get a new oil pump...can anyone tell me what the part number is to the ls6 oil pump?
was going to start a new thread but figured why not continue this one.
