Default mildly loud ticking/clattering knocking noise???

Recently, i bought my 2001 camaro z28 around 3 months ago, i hadnt done a tune up or anything on the car so decided to do a complete one becuase the rpms at idle were at 800rpms. 2 weeks ago I changed the oil for mobile 1 full synthetic 5w-30 and a stock ac delco oil filter. 3 days ago, i decided to changed the plugs and to my surprised the ac delco plugs were all gapped at 60, so i replaced them with ngk platnium gapped at 40. changed the wires for some duralast replacement and changed the AIR pipe gaskets. Also changed the fuel filter and recently added seafoam to the gas tank.

Anyways, recently, the car runs fine but at idle i can hear a ticking sound more like a soft know, the closes thing i cold find is this video, sounds almost exactly like that

What are your guys opinions, and as of now the rpms are at 500-600 and the motor doesnt shake as much as it used to so i fixed something at least lol ???

sounds like lifter tick or piston slap... either way i dont think you have much to worry about. My car has done the same thing for a long time now. Does it only do it at idle and low rpm?

different oils cause it to be louder or softer and i do know mobil one usually runs thin, but Ive never heard anyone having problems other than the valvetrain being a little noisier. When i ran mobil1's 0w40 i could barely hear it, but now that i switched over to german castrol 0w30 it has been more noticeable. I also noticed it more when i ran mobil1's 0w30.

you can change the oil and then you may or may not hear the noise anymore. I would try mobil1's 0w40 as I had good luck with that oil as far as valvetrain noise

It won't hurt trying it out.

I'll be going with 0w40 myself on my next oil change.

lol i just made a video of this exact noise today...its wierd it seems to die down after i drive it a bit but i always here it when i start it now, hot or cold...by the way im on pennzoil super whammy ultra platinum 5w-30...it was really thin pouring it in

does this "piston slap" have anything to do with how much oil u put in? and it doesnt seem to be killing my power..

Use a 10w 40 oil and it will most likely go away, what on earth are you using Mobil 1 for anyway, leave it for the rice boys
