Where is your cam specs in all of that blah??

if you want to run the times, you need track gears; not street gears IMO. 4.30's and up.

I have been building these cars for 12 years, there is a differance between street car and strip car. You could run 9's in a 408.

+1 on cam specs, also the 205s seem a little small for a 408, someone correct me if I'm wrong. And +1 on the gears. Some 4.30s would work better for you. I don't see an intake anywhere on there? What are you running?

That's a baby cam for A 408, a trex is bigger than that. What's your intake setup?

As i said in my pm to you, your entire topend isnt even suited for a 346. The heads and cam yes but a FAST 78 is old news. IMO you need to talk to Tony Mamo at AFR, the guys at Texas speed or Pat G to name a few. My friends 402 topend is going to be 104mm Lid, 100mm MAF, Ported FAST 102, AFR 215s or 225s and a custom cam. Mamo speced all of it out for him. The specs are 24x/ 25x .6xx/.6xx not sure about the LSA. Looks like you have some work to do to fix your 408.

change your intake setup and add a different cam and you will be there. also what stall do you have? somewhere around a 3800 would be good

You should easily get to the low 11's, High 10's with a better top-end. I would make sure you Spec everything out though!!! Cam. Heads, to go with whatever Pistons you have. Find a desired Compression Ratio. With an A-4, 3:90 gears should be tall enough for you.

Get yourself a Fast 90, or 102, and see what it does. This will be a start without spendig 3 to 5 thousand $. My set-up is running a relatively small cam and mild heads, Ran 11.17 first time out, with some Trans issues. Looking to hit 10.90's next time out.

We need to know what compression you are?

Best advice I could ever give you, if I could do a 408 build again which I probabley will. I would have ran VERY high compression 15.1 or higher and run E-85 if I was building a N/A motor. I dont see why you couldnt get into the low 6xx hp range N/A with good H/C/I and 2'' Primary Lt's. Then Put a Progressive 300 shot and you are tickling 1000hp. Just my 2 cents.

I would rap that car out to atleast 7200rpms, if i was racing it.

You need a stroker cam in there, what were your dyno numbers? Numerous people on here have dynoed high 5xx hp 408's mine N/A was 53x and Matts Emplem Pro was 45x something.

Look at how the cams are high duraration to pull in air for the N/A motors:
Popular Stroker Cams:

You def. need a fast 102/102 combo,4.10 gears and much bigger cam and you should see at least high 10s. The heads maybe holding you back im not sure tho. any work done to them?

Wink dyno #'s

Was told 525 rwhp....but the guy never came up w/a dyno sheet. It could have just been sales pitch...lol.The car is very clean(as you can see in my album) and only had 60k miles(got a carfax too) 12 bolt moser,cr. molly 10 pt. cage, cold ac,new tires,nx n2o kit w/2 10 lb bottles ,built a/4 and a bad xss sound system.I got a good deal on the car but am new 2 the high tech world.I am 46 years old....sold my 10 sec old school BB 72 nova when I started seeing how fast these cars were... with cold ac... lol.If i can get down to a low 11 I plan on spraying a baby shot to knock it down in the 10's.So keep the info flowing...would like to come up w/something w/out having to do new heads.......thanks to all.

The OP and I are in about the same boat coming from BBC's.
There's a lot of good info in here head cam wise.
Also, you may need to spend a winter verifying what's in the motor unless it came with receipts.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-hit-dyno.html

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...r-215-r-d.html

If your CR is high enough, I'd go with the 243/247 custom cam and flow check the heads if you have the cash left over.
Need to find out who ported your heads also. Plenty of hackers out there.

OP, I Agree with every reply post!!!! If u do some of the changes to accomodate that build then ditch the 26" tires and run 28"s..i dont think u will run out of gear and trap nicely at the top of 3rd..
